Back in the game- 72 Formula
« on: May 18, 2018, 12:34:43 PM »
Hello. After having to sell my red 73 formula some years ago, I acquired another red formula, only this time it’s a 72- I don’t particularly like red, they were just the best local examples I could find at the time.

Also does anyone know of or have a door lock/unlock dash switch for sale?
Thanks
KC

Nice looking car, you just need the rear spoiler and it'll be perfect.

As far as the formula goes, I actually prefer the wingless look. All about the front end to me. The 73 I had had the spoiler and I had plans to remove it. Other than the color, this car pretty much had everything else I wanted... it was originally blue which one day I will also restore

Next up is fuel system I noticed that whoever had the car before me “creamed” the fuel tank- you can see it deteriorating from the inlet????. Got a new tank and sending unit ready to go.

Stats- 350 2 barrel Auto NOM
A/C, power window and brakes
Will be adding power locks and rear defrost in future

Thanks for looks and comments
KC

It only has 2 barrel carb? Replacing the intake and throwing in a 4v, it will wake up the 350. That was the first thing I've done to my 71 Espirt came with 350 2v and true dual exhaust (now T/A clone with 400), the early 350 have decent power just need waking up.

Lol yes only 2 barrel. The mechanics are pretty solid so I will leave alone for now. Honestly it feels very similar to the 400 I had in my last car. Eventually I want to go the LS route- For now the car is dependable and the AC blows cold so thats fine with me.

Great Looking car. I have oddball tastes, I also like the look of that car without the rear spoiler. Is that later model fbody in storage yours too?

Lol no sir- I am a teacher... make of that what you will. My other car is a 2002 hyundai elantrA. The cars you see in the background are from TAFlorida’s shop. In my view, you are not oddball at all but thinking clearly. Remember whoever agrees with everything you say is a genius

I guess that's one good thing in living in Florida LOL, my 71 was my early spring to late fall DD until the company I work for moved to downtown Boston... Now I just don't drive.

Looks gorgeous. Unless the paint is starting to go on it I wouldn't worry about getting it resprayed unless you like to look at it in boxes for 10 yrs.

Welcome!  Car looks great!

You might consider a TBI EFI conversion as well as an overdrive transmission versus doing a LS swap if you want it to be a daily.  Most of the MPG gains with the LS are from EFI and overdrive.  Plus the EFI conversions are fairly cheap in comparison, and much easier.  So long as you aren't power crazy and want 400+ hp I'd look into the above first.  Much less down time too, so there's that.

Or both, power crazy and rarely driven, but when you do you like to sometimes cruise and save fuel and make the car enjoyable to get out.

Well, you don't simply drive up and drive away with new paint. Generally it's off the road for years, half waiting for them to start, half waiting for them to finish, then you find out they went under. Better to just enjoy your car as is. Get it detailed and buffed, looks like that red would come up really deep.
