Found some pictures of my old car!
« on: March 24, 2018, 01:28:47 PM »
I was digging through the forum and found out I never posted anything on my old car when I had it.  These are some old pictures I dug up from the 78ta forum.

Story of this car -
I was referred this car by friend who found it on ebay shortly after I sold my '79 10th Anniversary Trans Am in early '06.  When I went to check it out, I couldn't believe who clean it was.  The original owner was in his 80's when he purchased the car.  He sold it to a collector in '82 and he titled it with 69k miles.  From then on, it was literally stored and not driven with a whole bunch of other cars until he died.  When he died, his son started selling off most of his collection and that's where I came in.  In '06 when I looked at the car, it still had 69k on the odometer as titled in '82. From there, I picked it up and started doing a whole bunch of little things like replacing the fluids and what not to get it road worthy.  Within a couple years, I installed a new cam, rebuilt the heads, installed headers, converted the original exhaust to dual, rebuilt the transmission, custom autosound radio, new carpet, new trunk mat, and some other things. In '09 when I took these pictures, I had just received the Year One wheels.  Those things took a while to get.  I preordered those from Year One in '08 and had to wait over 3 months to get them.  They were literally the first batch of 17x9 Year One wheels that were made.

After I had picked up my other '79 Trans Am that I'm sure many have seen on this forum, I ended up selling this one to a family friend for a good deal.  He continued working on it some but eventually sold it because he wanted to get into a Mustang.  I was pretty unhappy with that because I didn't know he was selling the car until it was gone.  I should have never sold it in the first place but I guess that's just how it goes when you want the next newest thing all the time.

Is it 2 tone or my eyes playing tricks on me?

There were some areas that had discoloration.  Passenger side did start getting some “crows feet” in the paint because the sun was only seeing that side of the car while in storage for so many years.  Original paint on this car...no two-tone

When you said old pics I was thinking like from '85 or something, not just the other day. My car has been waiting in paint shop queues longer than these photos!

We have some family photos with some birds in the 70’s and 80’s that I could dig up.  My grandpa owned a ‘77, ‘78, ‘79, ‘82 and ‘85...all brand new.  My dad also had a ‘76 and ‘79 back in the 80’s.
