Got a new project
« on: December 04, 2017, 06:57:12 PM »
Just finished my 78 last year and I guess I just couldn't stand not having anything major to work on. This one is not too bad. It's a 69 nothing special, was born with a 350 and automatic. Has since been restored about 20 years ago when they put a 400 in it and a turbo 400 auto. The engine is a XX service replacement block (I think a w72 style) and has 6X-4 matching heads. Supposedly has 9.5 to 1 compression with a 068 Pontiac cam. Has a new performer intake and a new Holly Street Avenger 770 cfm (which I don't know much about). Has an HEI distributor and factory headers with a nice X pipe exhaust system. 2.78 rear gear.

As a bonus it has Vintage Air. All the under dash venting is complete and goes through the factory outlets. It is hooked up to the temperature controls. BUT, it's not working.

As you can see they added the Ram air hood and rear spoiler. Suspension has been gone through at some point and body bushings look new (rubber). The body, floors and frame is very solid.

It's GREEN!

It has some issues but I'll list them separately in other posts. I hope you guys check the 1st Gen questions occasionally because I get a lot of help from here. It runs pretty good, and stops straight. The 78 turned out so nice I kind of hate to park it anywhere, so the idea behind this one will be a true driver and I'll embrace the dents, dings, and occasional bubble.

And I'm putting a 69 back on the road as a cruiser.....with a 400 and Vintage Air...which I'm currently fitting. Great to see another member with one.

That's not a project but a show car in my book. Nice score. I don't know much about 69 Firebirds but I do own a first gen F Body... 67 rs Camaro.
79 Trans am 301 (work in progress) LS swap n progress
79 Formula 301 (Work in progress)
67 RS Camaro (Work in progress)
See the recurring theme???

Thanks for the compliments, it looks pretty good from 5+ feet but it has it's flaws. It has some 40 year old car stuff to fix like lights, radio, air, knobs, etc.. some tuning and some leaks. I order the GM service manual so I might get some done over the Christmas break.

That looks super! You said Green like it was a bad thing. I like the colour it looks good on that car. If you say its not perfect and is going to be a driver then it looks like a nice one.
