I was not placed , I am not sure who seen my SE 79 TA.... but the cars exceptional and I don't say that because its mine it truly is. Cars a #1 and the judge gave me solid 3's       I will never bring that car or any Trans am that caliber to that show again however I will continue to go as I have been going since 6 years old with my father and brother. The two cars that placed over mine and I want to speak nicely as I don't want to offend or be little anyone's car but they WERE NOT the condition or quality of my 79 SE W72 I had an open check book in restoring mine to it's former glory and being as factory correct as possible. I was astonished the cars had considerable more flaws. Again great time, Pathetic judging !!!!!!!!!! I let that be known to the right members at the conclusion of awards not that they gave two cents. I am not ranting or soured nuts just being factual, more important than 40-60 dollar trophy was being with my family and friends , but it needed to be known my judge was an 'IDIOT' who ever judged SE-1. Again no disrespect to any ones car who won, I am just being real in my statements.

I left just before awards.  I wasn't looking for an award, a lot of really nice cars in all classes.
Hopefully the winners will get posted somewhere.   Was a great weekend.

Gotta agree Jacob, the cars that placed in SE1 were very, very nice but for your car not to place (win) is incredible! I think Stevie Wonder judged that class.

Your car is incredible Jacob. I think it was definitely a toss up for the top three spots in SE1. Can't say that I have any idea what the judge was looking for, but you can be proud of what you have.

Very true on the toss up. Last year there with my Y84 was 2011. Won second in SE2 in 2010. Won my class at Saratoga Springs in June 2011, a month later at the Nats, nothing. Was very disheartened to watch a guy pull in next to me, roll down the windows, not even bother to clean the car, and get third place in our class. he admitted later to me privately, he was embarrassed to accept it over the cars around him. So yea, it's hit or miss. Go for the people you only see once a year, that takes a lot of the sting out of it. My wife used to say why bother spending all your time all weekend primping the car, missing your friends, and setting yourself up for disappointment come awards time when you don't get one ? She was right, changed my approach and then started having fun.

Your wife has a very valid pointe and that's what I will be doing in 2018 !! I just spent two years putting together my 79 Y84 as close to factory appearance as possible so figured with the perfect weather I'd bring it to the nat's can't say that it will be seen again there but I sure will be along with my family. I am in the mix of purchasing a bundle of vintage cars including two Trans am's so I'll just bring one from my rotating collection. In 2016 my 79 10th T/A with 5200 miles scored higher than my 79 Y84 this year which is fresh from a very high quality restoration I've come to agree no rime or reason

Thanks ddmurdock for the kind words , I am very proud of it. I purchased the Trans am when I was 16 and it holds a special place in my heart.

So true.  I've been going since 2007 and have floated around the top 3 the whole time.............two 1st, three 2nds, and two 3rds.  Bring the same car every year and haven't done anything different.  I know its all in the eyes of the judge and whatever happens is gonna happen and I am good with that.  For the most part, the judges do a good job.  They aren't and never will be perfect and that's ok.  Having been on the other side doing the judging at other big shows, I know what they deal with and don't envy them one bit.  No matter what the outcome is, it won't keep me from bringing what I am proud of.

Didn't place, didn't care.  Just lucky to get through the weekend without car damage and no broken bones.  What did somewhat puzzle me is how I got a 2 on exterior and the Norwood factory installed paint drip on my left quarter by the marker lamp was one of the reasons given for the low score.

I guess in the future I won't be judged and just go for the fun.  Can't compete with fresh restorations so why bother.
Hold on to your ass Fred.....
