Video of 2 1/2 years of work I've done on my 71 Formula.
« on: April 29, 2020, 09:38:34 PM »
I put together a video showing the work I've done to my 71 Formula over the past 2 1/2 years.  I still have some work I can do to the car but I'm calling it finished for now and moving on to the next project.  Take a look if you're interested. Thanks!

Thanks! I like the white as well, there are some nice contrasts with the black and gray on the car.  I've considered putting the Formula side stripes on it, but I think I'll leave it as is.

Thanks! The Hemmings thing was a pretty cool experience, Jeff Koch and Tom DeMauro were enjoyable to work with.

What did you mean in the magazine by "leave the junkyard... in the past."?
You mean you don't like "junkyard car revived for $7!!!!!" articles?

Not to say I'm a huge "I found an $80k car for $3,500!!!" articles, but I sure as hell don't like all of the resto-mod, "pro-touring" or concourse articles. I don't need to read anymore articles of rich people spending ungodly amounts of money to make a 50 year old car compare with a modern ferrari.

In other words, junkyard stories are the lesser of two evils, to me.

If I took you completely out of context, I'm not gonna edit what I've said, but apologize for my confusion.

I hated the junkyard articles.  They did absolutely nothing for Pontiacs or Oldsmobiles, it was all LS this BBC that.  Plus the project cars were either never finished or were pieces of crap, like the 4 door Ford Crown Victoria or the 3/4 ton Chevy pick up truck.  I wanted project cars that car guys actually build and tech that was actually useful.  I'm never going to the junkyard for a BBC or LS to put in my Firebird so those "make 800 HP with a junk yard 5.3 LS" had no value for me.

^^^ I can't argue with a single thing you just said. :)

I ESPECIALLY can't stand the fact that they never finish their tech series. Eastwood did a good job of "Zed sled"('79 Z28 ground-up) but to be honest I didnt' follow up past the paint--wonder if they finished it completely.

Don't know?  The magazine is out of business now, the only one left is Hot Rod.  Popular Hot Rodding, Car Craft, Musclecar Review, all gone.

Steve,

Great looking Formula, upgrades are tastefully done. I really like the white color. Nice to see an early 2nd generation Formula. Growing up I had friends with a 71 Formula 400, 73 Formula 455 and a couple 76 Formula 400’s. Brings back lots of good memories.

Muscle Machines is getting to be my favorite magazine.
1980 T/A 4.9 Non turbo

Gone but not forgotten;
1973 T/A 455
1975 T/A 400
1978 T/A W72
1982 T/A cross fire injected

Two wheel toys;
2014 Harley Ultra Classic Limited
2013 Honda CB1100
2010 Yamaha Vmax
1982 Yamaha Seca 750

Thanks!  It's a great car, fun to drive and an attention getter.  The Formula is a great alternative to the Trans Am at half the cost.
