posting pics
« on: May 24, 2016, 06:19:01 PM »
Hi,
I'm new here. I noticed this sight has no way of adding an attachment for pics.
Some of us old guys don't have Twitter or Photobucket pages.
I like looking at members cars and I think the sight would have a lot more pics if it was easier to post.

I'm not complaining...just suggesting.

We used to host our own pictures.  It takes a LOT of bandwidth, and on two separate occasions- the site crashed.  The second time it was nearly two weeks to recover most of the site's history.  The first time it was all lost to the ages.  It really was easy to set up a picture account and link to it; I had Photobucket (and still do) but in 2013 I switched to Flickr and never looked back.  Photo hosting is the only way to ensure no more crashes for us.

see, that's why I don't run web sights.
I'm sure my sight would crash all the time.

Older thread but is flickr still the best way of going?

I have a photo bucket account set up but haven't used it much in a very long time and I'm willing to switch it up if flickr is easier to use.

PB is fine and easy to use, the problem with them was when they began charging an exorbitant fee. Most of the guys dropped them. I use flickr now, its free and fairly easy to use. I had a pb app on my phone and I have to admit it was much easier with that to download, but I have gotten used to the new way of doing things.

And flickr have now followed Pbucket and want subscriptions paid or accounts severely limited. It won't affect those continually asking and obtaining answers, just those who provide them.

Ok, I was wondering why I could not figure out how to attach a pic to my post...so, what is the simplest way to attach a pic to my post?

The image needs to be uploaded elsewhere and the link posted here. There's a few photo hosting sites that are free to sign up for, Photobucket and Flickr are some of the more common ones used.

Have you guys considered Imgur? Pretty simple and easy, sometimes flickr is a hassle to go and look through people's accounts, and imgur links normally work really well with forums. Worked really well for me
