There is a live auction Sunday afternoon while judges are figuring stuff out before awards are presented.    Diecast car show and a how to present your car for judging seminar.

If you need parts that are big or heavy to ship, check to see if the vender will be at the show.  They will bring it with them and save you shipping charge.     Good time to pick up head liner, etc.

#43 for the 77.

Hopfully paint is done on the restoration by early May to have the 3-month curing time needed before applying the decals.

Hotel is booked.  I actually took a shot at the host hotel and had everything ready to give them my info and I got disconnected.  Called them back immediately and of course got another representative and no more rooms were available......DOH!!  Oh well, we are at the Hampton, so just across the parking lot...........for now.  I'm keeping an eye out and checking regularly for a two room suite at the Homewood to hopefully open up so we can share a room with the other half of our caravan.

I'd not worry just yet.  Mine took about a month to arrive.  I sent it in early, so maybe now the volume of registrations is increasing and it is taking a bit longer to get all cards back out.  Just a guess.  They've been doing this for 30 years, so I'm sure the process is pretty well settled and efficient.

Hello, TAC! I apologize for disappearing from the forum.  My kids are both in grade school now and with sports, dance, family and other activities, I just don't have the time to sit at the computer like I used to! ...Or I can't stay awake after the kids are in bed... I do still manage to make it to a couple of shows each summer - gotta love retired grandparents!

I resisted joining facebook for a long time, but it just worked out that many here are also there so the T/A Nat's facebook page is where I'm posting most of the announcements and updates pertaining to the show. Looks like most here are keeping up with that which is good.

It's frightening to think that my involvement in the Nationals stretches back to 1990 - 26 years! Lots of people have come & gone. I've kept up with some, lost contact with others and met lots of new people. Unfortunately, the distractions are many Nat's weekend and I'm horrible with names as it is so I hope people don't think I'm a snob - that's not the case at all. I ALWAYS remember the car!

If you're on the fence about attending this year, you'll be kicking yourself if you don't.  We've taken our share of lumps for being a "wax & sit" show, but if you participate in all of the cruises and off-site activities this year, you'll probably burn up at least one tank of gas before Sunday. Drag racing, THREE cruises, Smokey & The Bandit at a restored Art-Deco theatre, Pontiac General Manager and retired GM VP John Middlebrook, new DJ, karaoke, 20th Anniversary of Tipp, concours judging ('67-'74), Saturday/Sunday judging, Work In Progress/Driver class, restaurants/shopping/museums all close to the show site, Renovated Holiday Inn - the list goes on and on.  I've had a couple conversations with some key people in the Firebird hobby and there will be a few unofficial surprises as well.

Lots of the above has been discussed/debated since I first joined TACA Dayton in 2000. The changes to hotels/locations and a lack of volunteers or space has kept a lot of the above from getting past the discussion stage. People have stepped up and gotten involved, which has made all the difference. It's a LOT of work, and it takes me until Labor Day to recover each year, but I never even think about backing down. I have stepped down as Judging Chair, but that was to allow me the freedom to spend time working on other aspects of the show. From the reactions I'm getting online, I perceive it's been a good thing for the show and for the hobby.

We've already planted seeds for new events for the '17 Nat's. We'll see how the changes for '16 go - keep what works, alter what could be done better and jettison what flops. The key to the success of the event is REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS. The show has stayed in the black for the past two years, but barely. We've managed to maintain the participation of over 350 Firebirds despite the car being gone for 14 years and Pontiac being gone for seven years now. With interest in musclecars as high as ever and growing, now's the time to break that 'Bird out, get registered and come to the show - even if it's not finished. What good is having a cool Trans Am if it sits in the garage because "it won't win a trophy"?  Get registered, park it in the Work In Progress/Driver class, pop the hood and ENJOY it!

On behalf of all Trans Am Nationals volunteers, show committee and TACA Dayton, than you all for your continued support. Registration for the 2016 show closes next month (7/31), so get your forms in NOW and plan on attending the best Nat's EVER!

Life is short - Drive sideways.

Hey, has anyone been in a situation where you registered one car, but it could not go and so you took a different car?  How does that work?  Need I inform the host before I arrive and get a new card, or can it be dealt with on my arrival?  Hope it does not happen, but getting too close for comfort.

Will they travel I-64 from St. Louis?  I-70 is a straight shot from St. Louis to Dayton, and saves quite a bit of time.
