You guys make me laugh with your plows.  I do have a driveway, but it's just big enough for 2 cars.  It's nothing a snow shovel and a couple minutes of hard work can't handle.

Well we can't all have everything easier than you do, that just wouldn't be fair. Some of us have to have it worse somehow. Now stop laughing your making us feel bad.

I don't get it?  I'm only saying that I don't have a plow because I don't have a need for one.

FWIW, I don't have everything as easy as you say.  Comfortable, yes, but that comfort didn't come without hard work.

With that, Today I...  actually called in sick to Auto Zone.  This is the second time in three years that I've ever called in sick.  A BAD migraine put me out for the count.

I was just teasing and using sarcasm

See, sarcasm is my everyday thing, when I read posts I lean that way. Everyone here seem to all be good folks, just buds hanging out, poking a little fun.

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend you all. Someday I'll get back to my car. Still working on the barn.

Thanks, but this is just to store toys, 30x56 11' walls.  My shop is a 24x50 two story stick building 1000 feet from here by the house. I had that built when we built the house back in 2010. I insulated half of the bottom and put in a furnace so I can work in the winter. With this building I can get some of the cars and unfinished projects out of my way. You sure save a bunch building it yourself and or subbing out different aspects of it. I found a contractor who put the last few trusses up, purlins and is putting on all of the tin (basically finishing it) for $4500. I also found a great concrete guy for $6500 (there is a lot of concrete in there). Rough guess 25k - 28k for those wondering. My shop was around 38k 8 years ago but I didn't do any work and that. Prices have gone way up on lumber and steel.

That's a smoking deal on concrete! We did a 24x32 that cost almost 10k in concrete alone, due to MA having totally unreasonable regulations when it comes to foundations.

It has large footers 5ft down, with 4ft tall 1ft wide frost walls on top of the footers, with the actual slab being 5" thick with rebar.

No more Grand Prix's for me although I think its repairable. Not happy about the insurance points but don't know how I can fight rear ending another car. The issue was the hitch on the SUV I hit, which caused most of the damage.

Someone rear ended me tonight then sped off. If they hadn't pushed me into the curb and bubbled my tire I could have caught them (if I wasn't driving a Honda Civic) and it's raining.

darn insurance companies.  My son got a speeding ticket (first ticketed offense ever) and because of it we lost good driver credits on the group policy.  Rates increase $200/tear for the next 3 years until he's back to a credit again.  PITA.

Glad you're ok and I hope they fix it for you.  Are you a $1000 deductible?

The Memorial and Museum at Pearl Harbor is a very somber and humbling visit. I just can't imaging the difficult choices they were all making, the sacrifices they were all willing to make and the prices they all paid. Such loss. Had the same experience on the Normandy beaches in France earlier this year. These places are beautiful and if not for the Museums, you just wouldn't imaging what took place there.

Today I picked up my first lathe. It's just an old craftsman/atlas but it seems tight and ways aren't worn. I may have payed too much but I haven't been able to find anything decent... I give him $700 with some tooling. It came with a heavy bench too.

Next is a mill. I have gone without these items but I enjoy creating things and many times I could have saved time and money if I could just mill or turn a part down.

I built my press out of scrap steel from a pool and a basic bottle jack. It is crammed in the corner so I don't use it that often but now that I have a new building I will be emptying out my shop of clutter and rearranging things so I can as actually use them!

Seems like a pretty good deal on the lathe. Im sure its one of those tools that now you have it you will be surprised at how often you will find uses for it. I would love to have one and a mill some day, along with the skills to use them.
