Not sure I can appreciate that. The Formula hood just looks so elegant and mean on these early cars.

Nice clear day but a bit chilly in the mid 40's, still nice enough to get the dirty 'bird out for a jaunt around the 'hood....

If it's good enough for " Poncherello"  it's good enough for me! Put me in the thumbs up column!  ( found one of those hoods in the early 80's at a junkyard with some damage underneath for $10.00 - no firebird friends at the time just thought it was cool!) Sold it about a year or two later for $20.00 ---  :-? Well I did double my money 8)! ( Should have hung on to it a few more decades!) Nice looking work on that body! Now a days, young folks will think that's a rare factory option!  :-D

I started a basement job a couple of weeks ago and the homeowner had this heavy duty shelf that she wanted to get rid of. So of course I said no problem. I was finally able to organize a bit of clutter in the barn. THEN, she sends me a text the day after I got everything loaded on it and said he ex (whom the shelf belonged to) wants it back!! So now im in the process of building a new shelf so I can get this one gone :(

Yea, both good thoughts. Funny thing is she still has another that was left in place that we built a closet around. I doubt he will want that one back as well. I even thought about offering him some money but then thought better of it (I can tend to be a bit hard headed, lol).

The car is a 20 footer. You can't see the clear coat peeling in the picture but it is. I'll be happy when the entire car is in primer.

In my travels the other day I passed a really nice Mach I sitting behind a barn, but the car looks like it should be in a garage. Theres a 69 camaro down the street sitting beside a house with crap piled around it that looks to be in decent shape and less than a quarter mile from that is about a '70 challenger same condition. The camaro and mopar are along a busy road and I can only imagine the number of people that have stopped in inquiring. THEN, yesterday on my way to lunch I could see through a field the rear end of a white firebird with 70-73 taillights. That one is due for further investigation. My son things im ridiculous for pointing out cars that I spot along the way.

So this is less of a today issue but it is definitely a lately issue.

I am finding it seemingly more difficult to get work done on my subframe. It  seems like every time I go out to my folks place to work on it, I am sidetracked with other projects to help out. Don't get me wrong, I am lucky enough to have both parents alive and well and needing help. That is far better than the alternative.

I was expecting more space at my disposal but it can't complain there either as it is my dads garage, and it doesn't cost me anything to have it in there, nor did it cost me anything other than time for the garage build itself.

I had honestly hoped to be further along with the subframe progress

At the moment, I am in the middle of repairing damage done to my dads tailgate off his truck, as he drove into it with the tractor, loading something

I feel i'm in my ever repeating rut of no progress, especially being so busy with the passing holidays.

My intent is to get the springs out of the front end, finish disassemling the front suspension, and get it put back together, painted and wearing fresh rubber before the melting snow and endless mud takes over in the spring.

I know it is more than doable but it will be nice to get time to work on it and have it all cleaned up

ok...my mild rant is over

I haven't seen my parents in years and at my age I'm very fortunate to say that they're still alive. Just roll with it man and eventually it'll get done.

Just wait until you have few kids that need you help, between helping family, maintaining properties and few cars + a full time job you'll be lucky to have few minutes a week to yourself... not only I haven't had time to work on the birds, I haven't driven them.

Yeah, the 20 year rebuild process has definitely been effected by having kids. Right now they are soon to be 15 and 18 so they are a little more independent and live with their mother. My son likes to come and help when he is visiting though so that's nice!!

Kinda what the others said Charlie, but keep at it. You will have it done one of these days. I imagine its hard to get things done when they are at a distance and at the mercy of someone elses shop. Especially when you have a select few hours to work on the car only to be gobbled up with unexpected repairs for something else. Sounds like you need to take a weekend and set it aside for car work only. Whatever else comes up can wait until the next time.
I have the same problem monetarily. Every time it seems I have some spare change to put into my project something comes up. Just had to spend $900 on new exhaust manifold for my truck, now It needs to go back in the shop for cam phasers. I think how far that would have gone on my T/A!

So yesterday, I actually fiddled around with the GTA.  For Christmas I gifted myself a set of wire looms for centerbolt valve covers.  I wanted something simple yet still nice looking.  I'm happy with the ones I got even though I had to modify the tabs that attach it to the valve covers.  I didn't think the set up I had looked bad, but just wanted to tidy things up a bit.  So far the drivers side is done and will tackle the passenger side next Sunday...........hopefully lol.

Before.......

And after.........

Life is busy.  Sometimes you have to make time to take a break and relax. I haven't touched my car project in quite a while and winter is usually the time I get work on it.

I spent the day working on my kids go carts. They are getting too big for them but they love them ( I find it pretty fun to race them too. We have a matching set). We relocated the seat 5-6" back and we made new brake and throttle pedals to gain another 5-6". I can now ride without my head leaning out because the role cage is in the way. Oh and my kids can ride more comfortably too.

***Edit ***

I really like the look of the TPI engines.  Yours looks super clean!

That is what I installed in my 67 but I have yet to reinstall the intake.

That engine bay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a side note, the last time out at the folks place, I did get some wall art up before the tailgate repair started. Good ole 305 Chevy shaker. Figured this was a good spot for this one as I don't have a Chevy power plant!!   I still haven't found the shaker base for this one yet though. I believe it is trapped in the trunk of the car.
