Motor Oil Capacity 301T
« on: February 09, 2015, 10:11:27 AM »
Good Morning I would like to thank anyone in advance for your input on this subject.  I own a 81 TTA and the oil level is low using the 4 qt recommendations when doing her oil change. It takes six to make it to the full line on the dipstick and always has since I purchased it in 1991 she has about 120k original on her and has never been out of the car. The dipstick is the correct part number for TTA any guesses would be appreciated..

The 4 quarts is definitely a misprint in the service manual, for the 4yrs I had the 301T motor in my car I always put 5 qts 30w oil +I filled the oil filter with oil before putting it on,and  half of a 16oz bottle of Red Line engine break in oil for zinc and never had a problem,I always kept an eye on the oil and never had to add any but I`m anal and changed the oil and filter every thousand miles or so just because of the beating the oil took recycling thru the turbo which gives off some serious heat

mine has always read 1 quart low when I changed oil with a 5 qt and filter there is no mention anywhere that the turbo cars needed 6 with filter I don't know if its a manual misprint or an incorrect stick and nobody else here seems to know
