From the picture the seat looked like it was free of tears/cracks.

hehehe, not really, like I said, good metal. I'll transfer my torn stuff to the new metal for now and I might start on the interior over the winter, at least maybe recovering the seats. I've lived with it this long but, at least my back will finally get a break from the broken seat.

Now that you have good rails you might consider finding some fourth gen front seats when you go to do the interior black.  You'd get more support and would have the recline feature.  Plus they really don't look that out of place if you get the right version:

Or if you're wanting closer to stock appearance with an integrated headrest:

Top ones are from a LS1 Firebird and the bottom are from a LS1 Camaro.  I always thought the vertical stitching gave them a timeless retro look that'd work really in the second gen.

Update: My friend is going to come over and get the painting done this Monday. I'm also going to attempt to install the carpet this weekend (did I mention I have new carpet?). Looks a bit daunting with the cutting and trimming. Lord don't let me cut too much! :D One nice thing, the '75 carpet is a two piece so I don't have to wrangle one large piece of carpet.

Carpet is not that difficult.  You can knock it out in a couple hours based on what I've seen in your posts.

OK, this years projects are done, I think. Got the new carpet installed and man, I didn't realize the entire interior had to be removed (except dash of course) to install it. Well, it's done and looks good. Monday painting and two bolts to install the air dam.

My work area today...

Interior out .... AGAIN!

Pre-fitting...

Back cut in...

Front cut in...

And DONE!!!!

I can certainly say, "I know how to do interiors!"

Congrats Rich, carpet looks good, but I thought you were also doing the front seats? or was Kerry doing his...

Uh, well, the seat I was actually given doesn't work. The adjustment underneath is locked and won't move so I opted to put my broken one back in until I can figure out what to do next.

Looks super clean, nice job Rich you have an awesome car!

Thanks, it is getting there, still lots to do but, took her out tonight to a couple local cruisin's and got lots of compliments, especially the front end.

Center vents, is at the top of the picture (rectangle opening with some curved defectors) to the right is the piece that sits under the glove box. Sorry I have that wrong center vent is at the bottom.

That piece attaches to the heater box behind the center console, look a this....

That piece attaches underneath the heater box. Look at the purple colored pieces. They don't look exactly alike in the diagram but replace the purple piece in the picture that is being installed on the tail end of the heater box (underneath it) with that piece.

Thanks Rich, that diagram and your explanation makes a bit more sense. This is a much better pic than what I got out of my service manual. Do you know why that piece would switch. Would it be one setup is for car with console and one for car without console?

Off the top of my head, not sure. Cold be AC vs non-AC, could be a slight difference in the year of car. My take is it is a diagram encompassing many years. The diagram actually shows the piece your talking about, just not installed where it goes. Look at the two green pieces off to the left. Just left of them is the piece we've been discussing. In the heater box you can see the dotted lines where the piece goes.

Anyway, congratulations Rich on finishing; the result looks great.  You really stuck with it.  The 75's have a very clean looking front view.

Wow...I'd been checking in once in a while earlier this summer...Didn't check in for a while and BAM!  I was surprised to see it all back together! Congratulations!
Sorry if I missed it in this thread somewhere, but I need to ask what color/product you used to do the paint on the interior plastic?  I'm starting to get things together to work on my interior pieces.  And that color looks like a close match to one of the 3 or 4 different shades of red in my '81 Bright Red 'Custom' interior.
I'd like to pick up whatever you used to test it on a few pieces.

Thanks! And congratulations...Awesome job/accomplishment to do so much in your one car garage.  I know from my project, the workspace presents its own challenges.

Thanks Tom. I just bought the matching color interior dye spray paint at Autozone.  However, while it worked great on the center console and so far seems to work fine on the dash cap I used, it hasn't worked out so well on the door panels, sail panels, etc. Not sure if it is the plastic or the paint but it bubbles and peels off, on all those panels without exception. So, my next step is I bought plastic paint for the panels and am going to try that to see if it works. It could be that the panels have something on them that is causes the reaction but I've cleaned these things with everything under the sun. Having said that, I'd give it a go on you panels and see how it works.
