AMD full outer rocker
« on: September 01, 2014, 03:42:26 PM »
Anyone installed a full outer rocker lately? Last summer I used a portion of a slip on from Sherman that was junk and I didn't do a very good job rigging it in. There an ugly seam under the full length of the rocker. Although I'm ready for my high build primer everywhere, I went ahead and started drilling out spot welds to remove the entire rocker. I'm gonna order one from AMD tomorrow. Any do's or don'ts that could save me any headaches?

I have not installed mine yet so I cant offer you anything there. I did want to say that I have bought both sides AMD rockers for my TA and the quality seems very nice.

AMD is pretty good stuff. I have most of my spot welds drilled and a lot of the rocker removed. There's a lot of welds down by the ends! Time to order the piece.

Here's how far I am, I don't want to cut any more until I get the new one just to be safe.

This isn't the rocker obviously it should be here tomorrow but I just got "done" crudely making my passenger toe board. I think it's going to fit great I left a little to trim.

Please excuse all the toys - but I got the AMD rocker a few minutes ago and it's the best part I've ever received. Hopefully soon they will repop every part we need, they are the best hands down.

Nice, how close to the originals is it?

Just holding it up to it for a few seconds it seems to be spot on. The screw holes for the trim are spot on. When I cut/drilled out the original i messed up an inner support piece toward the front, the AMD rocker has it built in. I think it seems thicker than the original. And it came in without a ding. I hoped to install it tomorrow but I have a blasting job.

I had a chance today to get this rocker fitted. I just need to mark the weld spots and grind them and spray the weld thru primer. I'm happy with it overall. The line between quarter and rocker is a little thicker than id like but I know it's up all the way, and I'm the one who installed the quarter so it's prob off.  The spoiler will cover it anyway. The bottom flange for the spot welds is almost twice as long or deep as the original. Hopefull I can seal the deal tomorrow.
