Is this a 301 bracket?
« on: December 15, 2013, 01:07:05 PM »

I had this on Mechanical but it wasn't familiar to anyone with 400 - 455's. I'm pretty sure I saw a picture of one somewhere else. The seller that I bought a bunch of brackets from said that the stuff was inside a late model 301 Firebird. I've seen a Toyota trans, room A/C and lots of other things in Firebirds so I'll take that with a grain of salt.  Thanks

Two do for sure, but I am not totally sure they were a 301 thing. The third has
a extra piece in the center that I haven't seen on the very few that survive.

One of the things that made them needed on the 301T in particular was keeping
plug wires away from the exhaust/turbo plumbing. Aside from that, 1981, the computer
year had extra wires going everywhere.

Lemme go see if I still have a reference for what they should look like.

Thanks for your very detailed response. After a lot of researching, I found out that the brackets I bought, including the long one, were in the trunk of an '81 T/A  301  AC, auto, cruise, PS and PB. He didn't say if it was a 301T. Perhaps I'll see some more info one day.

Ya know what, I got a very recent 81 301NA car out in my drive way, I'll go look tomorrow
after the sun is out... I didn't even think about that, and haven't documented one of those
near as much yet.

 Are you gonna sell those?

info from the seller - all the brackets were in the trunk of a '81 T/A 301, AC, auto, cruise, PS and PB. They were parting it out.
