Well I did think we were going to fly out in a MIL-8 as the Heli company had two on the hardstand......I told the materials co-ordinator "I've never flow in a MIL-8 before, this will be interesting".......He just laughed and said "No you'll be flying in a Super Puma, the MIL-8's are specific for Military Personel, because they are too unreliable"  Ouch....Glad I'm not a baggy arsed digger in the Vietnamese Army.   Interesting point though, the choppers were all painted in the company colours light blue, red and white.

Was sad I didn't see the Mi-24 Hind Attack Helos at Saigon airport this year.  Saw three the last time, wrapped up in plastic with their blades removed.  As you taxi back to the terminal, you can just make out a gaggle of Hueys parked under those old US Air Raid Shelters.  Didn't see much at Da Nang, just a couple of those old GMC Transport/Cargo trucks.

Lots of new cars, money all around, and happy people.

G’day again Phil and sorry for the late reply. I don’t have one but am on the lookout for a 77 to 80 ish TA as a future project car.

I’m currently building a Roaring Forties GT 40 replica but it’s hard to get Pontiacs out of your system. Once you fall in love with these things as a kid, you never fall out of love with them, unlike females.

You have some fantastic pictures on your page.

Cheers

That’s certainly an awesome bit of gear you have there, Ed.

And Leigh, thanks for the info on the 79. Sorry for the slow reply. I couldn’t find it at the time so it may have already been sold. Either way, your help is appreciated.

Dan go to this web site this is where I got my car from

Thanks for that. I actually drive past this place most days when I’m at work. I drive a gas tanker and now that the Peninsula link freeway is open, the easiest way to get to the loading point in Hastings is down the Mornington - Tyabb road once you get off the new freeway. I’ve noticed in the last week that there’s a lot more cars parked out the front, mostly Chevy Suburban type things. He must have recently had a few more containers arrive.

I know a bloke who has a 73 HO-455. It’s been in a shed for the last 23 years that I know of and I’m thinking of asking him if he wants to sell it.
Even though the 73 isn’t my favourite model, it would be an awesome car to restore. He lives interstate but the car is in Melbourne.

I was interested in an 87 GTA that was for sale in Brisbane on Carsales. This car was advertised for quite a while and I had a mobile mechanic up there take a look at it for me. He sent me some fairly detailed photos and a six page report and it only cost me $180. Money well spent, needles to say, I didn’t buy it. It wasn’t a bad car, just not the one for me.

Once my garage is finished, I’ll be able to  put a bit more time and effort into getting a TA. The right one will come along eventually.

I appreciate the help.

Cheers,
Dan

Looks great and a fantastic colour combination.

I tried to get in touch with a bloke who had a 77 for sale in Croydon last week. The first few times I rang, it rang out, then when I finally got back to Melbourne, I checked the add and it was sold. Oh well, someone picked themselves up a bargain, good luck to them.

I picked this old girl up today. She needs a fair bit of work but I got it for a reasonable price so it’s all good.

Originally a turbo 4.9 but now a 350. Still deciding on what to do with it but happy to have it parked in the shed.

That colour is Carmine isn't it?   That's the original colour of my black base model.     I saw it last weekend on a '78 at the all GM day.  Looked pretty.

Not sure, only my camaro is converted, all the others are left hooks.  The Camaro didn't seem to have any issues when I drove it last.

EDIT: - Sorry.. I thought I knew how to upload photo's.. Clearly I had no idea... Take 2...

Finally worked out how to upload photo's... Here are some of my project which I started in late 3 months ago...

Current status...

Need to remove the brake/fuel lines, fuel tank and then loosen the rear suspension and front clip so that they can easily be removed by the sandblasters and mounted to a rotisserie.

Then I will the nervous wait to see how much of my car actually returns, my fear is I will get 4 wheels roll out of the sandblaster shed and the body blown away...

Thanks

Bill

G’day Bill,
I haven’t checked this thread for ages and now your pics are up. That’s a great car. I really appreciate the pics of the bare firewall. Soon when I rip the entire front off mine and I will be relocating the brake booster from the left side to the right. I’m told that the heater - A/C box is basically mounted upside down and cut in about four places.

Your pics are really helpful.

By the way, I love those wheels.

Dan

Hi Dan.

Sorry for the late reply. Didn't realise there was a post here.

If you need more pics just let me know, I'm posting a write up here and also in the Camaro Firebird site.

Cheers

Bill

G'day Bill,
For some reason I don't seem to be getting email updates from the site. I look forward to your progress on this.

Cheers,
Dan
