Probably not.  I made the decision to drive the car in completely stock condition, while contemplating my plans for it. Caught up on all the maintenance it needed, belts, hoses, filters, plugs, wires, distributor cap, pcv, filters, all the fluids, rear brakes and wheel bearings etc.  So it runs/drives with 100% reliability.  It pulled daily driver duty on bluebird days, 36 miles round trip, mostly freeway.  Its a nice cruiser, but performance is weak.

I've sent hours reading posts at the 301 Garage, and there's no significant power gains to be had without swapping out the heads and crank, buying an expensive custom intake, and completely rebuilding it.  The block isn't the beefed up "turbo" version, and I don't want to risk damaging it by stepping up the power output.

Instead I'll probably pull it and preserve it, so I'll always have the complete numbers matching drivetrain.  Replacement will likely be a stroked 400 based on the '78/'79 W72 block and 6X-4 heads, that will appear stock, but have significantly more power.  Keep/rebuild the original super t10 gearbox and add a gear vendors overdrive, rebuild the suspension and add 17 inch Year One snowflakes with 255 50 17 tires. Hope to preserve the original black lacquer paint, and keep the interior stock, just needs seat covers and carpet.

The original engine will never find it's way back in.
