Hello, I just moved to Houston this January and I would like to know if any of you guys know of good shop to restore my 1979 TA. I'm looking for a place knowledgeable of Trans Am's and affordable enough so I don't have to sell one kidney in the black market. I was thinking on taking it to TexasTransams up in Fort Worth but I thought that maybe H-Town could have a good restoration shop for TA's too. The exterior is pretty much done (except the decals) so I'm interested on the Interior and maybe an LS transplant later on. By the way, do you know a good place that installs the decals? Thank you.

David at txtransam does a good job but you have to get on a waiting list. If you dont need it done before the first of the year my shop will be open for T.A.s .I have restored over 15 trans ams and in the near future will see about becoming a sponser here on tac if that is possible. I just finished my paint booth and will try to finish a 65 fastback for a customer by the end of the year if he doesnt change anymore on this restoremod . That said I restate that David does good work and is very knowledgable

Sounds good, man. Right now I just really need interior restoration (new dash, headliner, kickpanels, etc) and decal installation so no biggie with the paint booth. I'll PM you whenever I get back to Houston so we can talk business.

There is a shop that a coworker told me about down here on hwy 518 near Kemah. I've been over there a few times, and they appear to have some nice rods in the works. But they must open late, because every time I've swung by there after work they weren't open. So I never got a chance to talk to them. I'll swing by there again to get their info if your interested.

These guys are up in the Conroe area and do some really nice work. I have toured their shop and they are very detailed and offer the complete package. The dame of the place is Mo Muscle and you can see more about them here: http://www.momusclecars.com/Secondly, TexasTransAms is a great shop too, which I have toured, and the nice thing about them is T/A's is pretty much all they do so they know a ton! TA Junkie just opened his place, and I have seen his work, he would definitely not disappoint. Plus, you wont ever meet a nicer guy. Theres a few of us in the Houston area trying to put together a T/A Club for get togethers, wrench turning meets, and information swap. I think there is a thread in this section that deals with it. We are due for another get together soon, hope you'll consider joining us.

I know someone in The Woodlands area if you're still looking. I've seen them do work on a lot of different cars and they've done everything from concourse to crazy custom jobs. PM me if you need the number.
Mo Muscle does good work but they charge a fortune.
I recently sold a '66 Mustang that I had for about four years. I went over there one time to get a quote on replacing some floor pans....literally laughed at the guy and told him he was out of his bleeping mind as I getting back in the car.

He's had several in the shop before but they don't discriminate and will restore anything people bring them.....I was over there one day a while back helping him out for a day just because I was bored and had vacation time and I patched up the door on an old '55 Ford truck before block sanding a more modern Nissan Z car. First car he ever restored was when he was in high school when he and his dad restored / built an old Trans Am for him to drive in high school. I'll send you his contact info via private message. He painted my '66 Mustang a couple of years ago and it still looked really nice when I sold it a month or so ago. Picture below was the day the Mustang came home from being painted.
