78 Y88 WHEEL QUESTION
«

I have a question on the wheels for my 78 Y88. It has a ship date of July 10 1978 on the PHS papers and was wondering if the correct WS6 wheels are the solid gold or the wheels with the machined surface on the outer edges. The car had Cragar wheels on it when I bought it in 1983 so I never seen the original wheels.I have heard that they changed mid year 78 to the later wheels but not sure. Thanks for any replies that would help.

I can't answer your question but I'd like to think they may have changed by then s oyou can at least use the better looking machined version with nicer gold! I'm sure they all have the same rim and colour code on buildsheets so that tells nothing. With that build date your Y88 must have been one of the last of the bunch.

Both the 78 Y84 & Y88 had the solid face WS6 wheels with the machined lip only. I've personally never seen a Y88 that didn't have the solid painted wheels.
