Happy New Year everyone: I've been scratching my head for the past couple of months on my roll cage installation. I bought a comp. eng. 8 point . The instructions say to have the rear strut bars parallel to each other but in order to install them on the rear frame rails they will have to be angled (distance between struts on main hoop will be narrower than where they weld to the rear frame rails). I can't seem to find any good pics or instructions anywhere on the net about roll cage installation on a 2nd gen f-body. Can anyone out there please help. Thanks

well i don't know about cage installation, but if its a 4 point installation in a 11.99 under to 10.00 car this is how i prefer to do it in a street car in order not to loose rear seats.

Your question is kind of confusing. The bars should run parallel from the frame rail right to the main hoop. Measure the distance between the bars at the frame and make it the same at the hoop. The bars do not have to be towards the outside of the hoop. The rear of the bars should be as close to the spring hangers as possible. You will have to cut the package tray for the bars to pass through.
The pic below shows the basic install of what it should look like.

Thanks so much for the info. After looking at the nhra rules, on roll cages, about 100 times I finally realized that I can attach the rear braces as low as 5 inches on the sides of the hoop. Boy I must of been out for a burger or something when they were handing out brains. I am in the process of cutting my package tray to get them through. I cut a piece of pvc plastic pipe to use as a template and had to cut the angle of the pipe, where it mounts in the trunk, to 80 degrees. At that angle the pipe covers right across the 6 inch plate. That is with it being as close to the spring hangers as I can go. It is going to be similar to what you showed me in your picture Harry K. Again thanks Harry and xtreme_ta for your input. I will try to send pics as I progress,if I can get into photo bucket(it wouldn't let me in tonight).
