Was reading in the recent HHP magazine about the San Fran radio station that gave away a '79 TA endorsed by Sammy Hagar, etc.  and they don't have a recollection or records who won it. What!
How do you give away a Trans Am and not know who you gave it too, mmmm. Fishy?

uhh not really it as just a radio promotion.  Back then payola for playing records/artists was common and this promotion was probably along same deal.  Dealer got free advertising  for car sammy got play on radio and radio station sold more commercials because of the hype.

Yuk. I'd probably stop listening to any station involved in the Travolta car giveaway.

The Sammy car is a blown BBC powered red T/A. The car pops up on the bay area craigslist from time to time.... I think the seller wants 30grand for it.

The craigslist ad claimed it to originally be Sammy's car.... they supposedly had documentation to back it up. The car was advertised as having a BBC with a blower.... they had a couple of pics posted in the ad too... Last time I remember seeing it advertised was about 6 or so months ago.

Probably is but altered - when Sammy starting making more money he started driving Ferrari's - Check out his (  I can't drive 55 video ) on youtube - who ever got ahold of Sammy's original 400 4 spd 79 T/A - Hot Rodded it and put a Chevy in it -Shame . Sad

I thought that was a good article. I like articles like those way more than the standard Resto-rod article where Mr. Billy Bob Babyboomer sinks $20k of go-fast chrome bolt-on goodies onto his rig (really gettin sick of them)..

I really enjoyed that article as well. (that, and the informational articles or do-it-yourself upgrades). As for the trailer queens, I'll pass.

If anyone at HPP is looking for fresh ideas, here's one: photograph some of these classics (ie. '64 GTOs, '73 SDs, etc.) on the road, either moving (using a chase or follow car) or simply parked on a side street next to some regular buildings. Maybe a nice country road, with some farmhouse nearby, or even an industrial neighbourhood (as long as it's safe). Artsy backdrops are nice, but I love to see these cars in a normal driving environment.

I volunteer three mint original T/As for this series. Very Happy
(but I won't sit spread-eagle on the trunks of any of them.... Wink )

yep that's a blown chevy powered 79 T/A.  There's no reference to it being Sammy's car, though.

thanks.  I didn't think you were lying, I was just making an observation.  It's interesting that there's no mention of Sammy in the internet listing yet it's in the header on craigslist.

Yup.  Without the original engine it's just a garage or museum piece in California.  Very few if any will touch such a car.
