I'm a new member myself.  I can understand the need for a few posts before opening up the classifieds section.  I know how much a PIA posting on Craigslist and eBay has been in regards to poor rep people, tire kickers, and no-shows for deals made.

Although...I have to say I feel like a forum Troll trying to find somewhere to fit in my two cents...LOL

Wait...just trolled.  Eight more to go!

10 is not bad at all ... already on my 4th without me knowing it but 50 would've been difficult for sure  :-P

I think 10 is set too low. 20 descent posts would be great in my opinion. lol

There could also be a longevity for members that are present, but don't post very often. For example on LS1tech.com it is 50 posts or 6 months of membership in order to get to the classified section.

I am kinda more of a pm person myself,, I know there are no dumb questions,  yet don't want to post one either,,  Its great to have a site to go to for questions and just to see what others are doing,, lots more people are building their own cars because like me,, I just don't have the money to have someone else do it for me,, so out of nessasity I became a mechanic, chiming in on the subject,, I have been on this site longer then it says,, guess I forgot my password when I had to do something, that required it and just started all over,, I basically used pm,, I understand how things can get bad quickly,, I am looking for a block or engine, and it does feel good to know that there is a place where I have been watching and reading for some time that I can go to and ask questions and answer questions as well, and one day,, soon I hope put up a want add,, yall take care and thank you for even having the site,

I really appreciate all the info and tips I am able to dig up from this site. It has been very helpful. Considering the huge wealth of information here and all the work that goes into it, the simple rules are a very small price to pay. Anyone who has a problem with them is not really interested in this site anyway.

I was an active member for several years, then got away from the TA working on other projects and life in general for a few years.  Now I'm back... with a new account under the same name... gotta build up some meaningless posts so I can get back into the classifieds and start getting parts again!  Feels good to be back in the T/A world :-)
78 T/A, currently in pieces again, after several iterations.  Long-awaiting the completion of a forged 467.

09 G8 GT - Sold :-(

I'm new here, first post and I think 10 is not much at all. there are sites with 50, even 100 minimum post requirements and a 90 day waiting period for posting anything in the classified section. it does help with keeping the scammers away, for the most part of course. as to browsing and being able to look for parts or cars, wouldn't think it be a big deal, but still it's only10 posts...

I have nothing to sell. I do not own a Trans Am at this time, but I am looking to purchase one.

Working on my post count.

The 10 post minimum is just to try and keep you honest.  The complete blackout until 10 is to keep the poachers away.  A lot of time someone would post a wanted ad and the poacher would PM them outside of the classifieds system.  More often someone would post a for sale ad and as people would communicate the poacher would undercut them in PM.  The poachers would never bother to contribute to the community.

Welcome to TAC!

While it can be a little annoying for someone who doesn't post on forums much, I understand the reasoning behind it. Now if only craigslist could be fixed...

I'm new to the sight. I don't know what all the complaints are about. I think having to post 10 times is not a big deal.
