I know this has been asked before: can someone please do a full video taping of a bird being installed.....FBody?.........MuscleCar?
This would really assist everyone. I have a set of decals (SE) to put on and have been delaying because, based on comments here, I am now deathly afraid that I am going to spoil it.

Rick I am editing it together and will release Monday we will be providing PG a full version they can use to distribute or post directly on their site or with the kits also.
The Install went excellent and the owner is super happy with it. LOL for those who got to watch the install it was pretty cool, a tad windy but pretty neat to see a full decal kit applied right on the show grounds at TA Nationals!
Thanks to Phoenix Graphix, Brett at 78TA Tom at Muscle Car Alley, Jeff Lenard, Russ, Hammer, Mongo, and everyone else who helped to make this come together.

With all the install issues with the new plastic mask, I've just got to wonder why the change in the first place?
Was it a supplier situation...ie, you can't get the paper mask decal material anymore...or was it an attempt at product developement? If the latter is the case, as someone who's applied a few 73-78 decal sets on T/As I must say I'm quite happy with the paper mask....never any issues, all came out great the first time. The plastic mask decals have me concerned enough that I'm not sure if I want to do someone else's car these days.
I'm just curious to know, why the change came about?
Likely penny pinching or perhaps went to a lower quality product.

PG claim they use only the best quality vinyl material to print their decals.....but, all the times recently that they have been directly asked why they changed to the plastic masking, they have declined to provide a straight answer. Why they feel they don't need to answer a legitimate concern from the hobbyists that are their target market is anyone guess? As I've said, I've used their products quite a few times, always had good results and have been a supporter of their company....but when someone changes their product to make it harder to use for what I can only see as no real gain, then that seems to me to be a bit of an "own goal".

The "NASCAR" logo on the '81 pace car has that plastic coating. Totally ruined the application ON BOTH SIDES as it never released from the decal ruining it. I called PG regarding the issue and they said noone else has had that problem, so I sprung for $50 for two new ones. SAME problem, so I just left the plastic on the decal, and the edges have the beginnings of me trying to lift the plastic. Looks ugly, but I'll be D*****d if I pay another $50 for their crap. I wish there was another supplier - too bad, they used to have good stuff and were straight up about their products.

The NASCAR logos are screen printed on clear vinyl as was originally done from the factory. You will see the clear vinyl around and between the lettering. It does not get removed. If there is a manufacturing problem with your decals please call 800.941.4550 and ask for the TAC moderator. I'd be happy to resolve this personally with you.

Just saying, the response from 'Nathan' - the TAC moderator - restored my faith in PG. Good conclusion to this - he's personally going to inspect the replacements he's sending gratis. No arguments, no fighting. He just listened and understood my complaint then solved it.

I had my kit for a little over two years stored in the tube before I got to the installation process, so I had the paper backing. I had previously installed some 80 Z28 stripes on one of my Camaros so I had a little practice at this. Unfortunately, this time, I didn't have any buddies around to help me. Well, a few hours later, I had installed the hood bird by myself and after getting the bubbles out, it looks great. Most came out on their own after I put a hair dryer to them, then some came out running the motor and getting the hood hot. I'm happy with my one man job. I used the gel and a lot of it just to make sure and left it on for about 4 hours before pulling the paper.
