'79 Heritage Brown W72 T-top 4-speed / WS6
« on: December 31, 2010, 04:34:04 PM »
I'm going to repaint this one, though I'm almost tempted to leave it alone. But the hood decal is incorrect and the paint flaking off the front bumper really both annoy me. Other than that, I'll keep this one as original as I can.

Change of plans; I deleted the old photos because they were lousy. These are better

Call me odd but that is my favorite color combination on the 79-81 cars. I like the black second then the gold but that brown is awesome. I wish my car held up that well over time. The previous owner of my car I guess never heard of wax. I agree would have to say leave it alone. It is only original once and that car still looks real good but in pictures my car still looks good.

If the rest of the paint were 100% original it would be one thing, but they're not. If I just do the hood and nose, then the rest of the car will look lousy in comparison. Also, the cost between doing half a car and a whole one is so negligible that it just makes more sense to do the rest of the car.

My '79 Heritage Brown automatic car actually looks worse than this one, but it's more original, so that one isn't going to get painted anytime soon.

the real deal-breaker for me is the hood bird. The correct one just looks so much better

For some reason, the camel hobnail seats always bleed the color. They always look more worn than they are. Every set I've ever had was the same thing. For some reason it doesn't bother me - Even when I had an upholstery shop I never changed them.

I think the only place I'll be taking this one is straight to ebay. It's a great car but I need the parking spot. This is going, and then the 4 speed '79 Z28 is going up next.
