Wow, that was really cool.....love those pictures.
I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters (near Ipswich) in the early eighties and tried to get back over to England my entire Air Force career. Oh well, too late now but maybe I'll make it back one day on day on vacation. Miss going to the pubs!!

Miss going to the pubs!! That's the spirit Nothing quite like a pint of warm and cloudy. Here's a link to my local http://www.hawkinge.com/CandCP/index.htmUsed by the pilots during WWII, over the years met some of the pilots from your side of the pond, who came here in 1939/40

Nice little place. So tell me, and forgive my ignorance, what's a jacket spud?
Kind of a neat story on the origin of the name, looks like a quaint place to have a few with your friends.

Oh no no fear of that Started years ago after a UK comedy show, an Aussie comedian Barry Humphries as Dame Edna Everage narrating a film about Shakespeare and Stratford On Avon, when this was seen driving by To which she said "Oh look a Shakespearian half timbered car! How quaint " So now it's things like "no climate control sir, how quaint!" So next time you're at a show (to someone you know) and their Pontiac hasn't got something your's has eg 'lecky windows say " Manual windows, how quaint" Does tend to upset new ricer owners Only four cylinders how quaint

Jacket Spud think you call them baked potatos
I've been to England and Germany, and learned very quickly that the same foods have very different names: In England, "French Fries" are "Chips" (Pommes Frites in Germany), Potato Chips are "Crisps", and if you order a "Beer", be prepared to get some funny looks. I made the mistake of ordering a "Pepperoni pizza" in Berlin. The pie landed in front of me covered with Jalapeno Peppers! I picked them off, but still went through 2.5 liters (oops, 'litres'...) of Sprudel to cool off! I actually saw three 2nd Gen T/A's in London (this was in 1987), one of which was an '80 Indy Pace Car. That must have been before the 'Congestion Charge...'?
