TAC member Norwood has a great reputation for restoring different parts for the 2nd gen community, so I approached him to be listed in this section of TAC.
One of my products that has been extremely well received are my hood latch restorations. This restoration is one of those details that separate a FIRST CLASS restoration from just another nice restoration.
This restoration involves completely disassembling the latch. The rivets are removed and all the parts are cleaned, nicks are repaired, glass beaded, and finally sent out for replating. All the internals are plated zinc and yellow and the body and release lever are plated a dark gray manganese phosphate.
The replated parts are then reassembled with new rivets and tested for proper action. The results are simply outstanding. NO PAINT IS USED IN THIS RESTORATION.
I can do restorations on 67-81 Firebird and Trans Am's, 68-72 GTO's, 69-72 Grand Prix, 70-72 Olds Cutlass 442. There are many other GM cars that use this latch with different variations. If the latch body appears like the one pictured I can restore it to BETTER TNAN NOS.
I do prefer to restore the latch you provided, but I do have stock. The restoration of your latch is $140.00. The outright price of the latch's varies by the application.
I have restored and sold well over 200 latches in the last few years.
My latches are all over the Trans Am Nats, GTO Nats and POCI. This past years Trans Am Nats Best of Show winner had one of my latches installed. The 1st and second place cars in the "Money don't matter " B Stock class are also customers. These restorations have been used on some of the BEST cars in the country including the 70 RAIV Trans Am that was a winner at the TA Nats a few years ago.
