Getting ready for TA Nats in August. If anyone is going, please come by and say hello!  Very Happy

I'll have several sets of gauges there for display. This is one of the latest projects in the works. I'll have a complete set of gauges done in the 3m Di-NOC by then (fingers crossed). Got a couple bugs to work out, but no biggie.
Thanks!
Daniel

As I said in the lobby, I love that look.  I wonder what it will look like against a silver turned bezel?

When I get a set put together I'll get some pics with a bezel surround.  I've got several turned bezels, but they all need to be redone  Sad

I've considered the same thing you're probably thinking. With all the flash of the turned bezel, the CF may look too busy, right? I thenk the black rings will give them enough seperation that the looks won't clash; especially since CF is becoming more common and acceptable as a "high performance" option. Your thoughts?
Thanks,
Daniel

Another thought... painting the needles a fluorecent red may look great with the CF. Most aftermarket HiPo gauges now have that type pointer.

I think the new needle color would be a perfect contrast!

When two or more agree....  Cool

That's all I needed to push me that way. I test painted a few needles a week or so ago. I loved the look on a set of gauges that I'm doing for sweetrides tv, but they wanted gold dusted needles because of the gold markings. I did, however, put a red tip on the needles.

Decided to go ahead with a mockup of the Trans Am gauges in the Di-NOC CFV. Of course, the markings are from gaugemarks.com Wink

Here are a few pics of a cluster before and after. I wanted to try the new artwork of the Firebird with SE in the clock location as well as using the fluorescent red painted needles, so I did it all on the same package. The red needles blend well with the carbon fiber vinyl to give a stock but HIPO look.

The bezel in the last pic isn't stellar, but you get the idea.
Thanks again!
Daniel

Wonder how that looks in the dark.. does the light shine through the numbers like normal? What about the clock.. i guess u probably couldnt see that in the dark then. Still looks pretty cool though.

The gauge faces for all 70-81 Firebirds are solid metal except for the cutouts for the brake warning, high beam indicator, etc.. so these gauges will reflect light normally. Below is a pic of  gauge faces that have just been bead blasted. The clock face did allow for luminescence originally, although it was somewhat limited. We're still in R&D with this design, but the clock area should be visible with no problem.

Thanks!

Still working on the process, so final price is TBD. There's a ton of work to be done when restoring these gauges. Everything has to be taken apart, cleaned, inspected, blasted, repainted, calibrated, etc etc... Sort of like restoring our cars, it was much easier to build it the first time. I have to admit, though, that I love this work.

Thanks!

I need to start saving my pennies for that carbon fiber setup, except I would want them with silver markings and light up in red Cool
