I just got the professional Etown print back. I may hang one in the garage and one in the trailor. The pic alone was almost worth the trip to NJ.

Great pic Jay --with the new engine are you trying for 10's -- to bad somebody is'nt making a 74 SD455 T/A run like this in this class  - you must get some great comments at the track from the HEMI guys etc. Very Happy Cool.

 Thanks!

I would love to shoot for 10's and that is in the back of my mind. But, the math shows this build would have to be a 90+ hp gain (620 hp)to get there at my weight (3980). I am thinking this time will only yield about half that(575ish)... we can talk about it though.

I did make some more gains (or losses) in my nose weight recently.  TA junkman hooked me up with a nice bumper that I have cut 11 lbs out of...I just need to refinish it now. Also, I am going to go with a 3 core radiator which will save me about 10lbs over my current 4 core plus the loss of fluid between the two. I will get some pics up of the bumper soon.

In addition, my alumnium fuel cell guy has a cnc machine that will try to duplicate in aluminum the heavy nose brackets in my car. Its a stretch but we will see. I shipped off my spare brackets to him last week for samples.

After speaking with Jim today...we are just waiting on my heads at this point.

Yes --that is a big jump to 10's when running 11's-just wishful thinking Very Happy.
I guess cutting weight your fairly restricted in FAST - SDRoger in Switzerland has got the weight of his 71 Racer T/A down to about 3200 lbs but he uses composite body panels-fenders  -hood-etc. Aluminum IA II Block etc.

This is one of the hardest parts about FAST. I cannot remove any item that came on the car...just internally lighten it. I may have lightened my front end enough though to go back to my other front drag springs.

1. Bumper  -11lbs
2. Radiator -22lbs (w/fluid loss)
3. Brackets -8 lbs

 Very cool pic 1Bandit455!

Here is the new bumper with the weight cut out. Now, if I can just get going on the finishing work.

This pic is my overseas 10lb radiator. Since it obviously has plastic tanks I need to hide them under some stock Harrison tanks. This is where you need to have an imagination. I have a couple of junk 3 core radiators coming to remove the tanks from. It will prob add 3-4 lbs.

Wow Jay, you did cut out some weight on those bumpers. I was moving the front bumper of my 74 over to my house today and I forgot how heavy that dang thing was, Almost a two man job moving that thing. Laughing

 Mark,

I hope to see you at the Summit TA show this weekend. I was planning to bring a 10th anniversary TA  Z code I have been working on. Since the '74 is still doing a wheelie in the garage I didnt want to show up empty handed.

I was planning to bring you this breather tube as well.

There hasnt been a whole lot to talk about over the last month. Luckily, I have been doing some restoration work on a TATA to keep me busy. But, recently I got word that the heads were well underway and in the valve spring set up stage.

With my first race scheduled for June 25th (Martin MI) things are beginning to come together. Jim should have my heads by this week sometime. Unless we have piston to valve clearance issues things should go smooth for the assembly.

Right now the plan is to chassis dyno the motor and get in one test at Steele before we load up for Michigan.

As for my small projects

1. Front bumper   (primed and nearly ready for paint)
2. Vacuum pump  (wired, plumbed and ready to install)
3. Radiator          (I have the 3 core tank donor now)
4. Weight rack     (added 15 lbs to center section)
