Looking good! what did you paint the trim with? I want to do the same with my windshield and back window mouldings, thought I would get them powder coated if that will be cheaper than buying new black. I want something that will be durable.
The product is called SEM Trim Black. It is designed for painting trim, and if I am not mistaken it is what is used by auto manufacturers. Also it was very easy to paint, and dried super fast.

Don't worry because "my" idea isn't orignial either. I just hope it is going to be durable enough. I put about 5 coats on it, so i hope that it will hold up.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll give that a try, save a couple bucks on the powder coating for "something important"

Nothing to really update here, other than I finally found a good deal on my disk brake swap! I found a set of C5 calipers, and an almost complete LS1 rear brake set-up for sale on Pro-Touring.com. Now the only thing that I will be missing would be brake lines, adjustable proportion valve, Kore3 front brackets, Kore3 front hubs, and e-brake cables. I can't wait to get these on the car, but I wane to get everything that I need before I start the teardown, so I will have to put off installing these brakes to a later time. But the most of the expensive parts I already have.

Eventually I want my brake set-up to look like this. I think that yellow rather than red because of the color. I will have the front and rear calipers powdercoated yellow.

Might be a little harder to keep clean wit hthat bright yellow....but they'll highlight well against the grey.

Well, it has been a really long time since my last update. It is hard to start working on your car after such a long time. It took a little while to just figure out where I left off. I decided to start putting on the cover for the deck lid springs. Then I finished putting on the rear trim.

I also put on the tail light trim bezels, and aligned the rear spoilers. Now that I have that done, the rear of the car is all buttoned up. It is nice to think that the rear section of my car is totally done and complete. Just one more step closer to having the car complete.

My sister got me the shifter knob that I have wanted ever since I saw that they were being reproduced. I put it on and love the way it looks. The car is really starting to come together.

I also put on the driver's side mirror.

I didn't get anything big accomplished, just a bunch of little things. Hope that you enjoy the pictures.

Happy New Year!!!

Well I was thinking of what I need to do to my car in the next few months and was thinking about what I can do to lower the front of my car since it sits so high. I just realized that I don't have any shims on the upper A-arm. I am hoping that if I put a few shims in the top A-Arms that it will let the front end sit down lower. Do you think that will work?

Also I think that I am going to make some panels to delete my A/C Heater box. I eventually want to put in the Vintage Air, but don't want to completely shave the firewall in case I would like to put it back to original some day. Another update is that I should be getting my fender back from the paint shop soon so I will be able to put that back on and hopefully tie the front end together, Again.

Cheers,
Ryan

Those shims are for the angle (pitch of the tire) and are used when aligning the wheels ,it will not change you hight,,im almost sure you have the wrong springs for the front.many gm cars have the same looking coils but some are rated HD for trucks and maybe thats something to look into, make sure you got the correct springs.
on that note ,dont forget to tighten those nuts this time.... Laughing

I got some more done this weekend, but I felt more like I was going backwards. I decided that eventually I would like to get a Vintage Air kit for my car in the future, so that means good bye to the suitcase that is on my firewall and under my dash. It freed up a lot of space under the hood. I am building my own block off plates to clean up the firewall. I didn't want to weld in panels to shave the firewall so I have the option to put the car back to original.

Here are all the parts that came off the firewall.

Look at all the space the suitcase took up.

Here is the one block-off plate. I didn't get a chance to finish the other side, but will get it done next time I get to work on the car.

Here is the finished plate, and the installed pictures.

For the time being I am just going to hope for the best, but when I get the money I want to install Vintage Air. I only intend to drive the car on nice days, but worst case scenario if that happens then I will just have to pull over and wait it out.
