I had some of this posted before the crash and since I have a few minutes with nothing to do I thought I might throw it on here again. Please remember I have never done any paint and body work before. It is coming along pretty well anyway. I hope to get it all done by this time next year??

Begining of tear down

Tail Panel in pretty good shape

Starting suspension rebuild

Motor Back in

Where I am now

Test Fitting

Well this is where I am now. I hope to be able to shoot some high build and block it out and get some color on there soon.
I think I have all the hard to find parts to finish up. Might need a few odds and ends. It has been a real adventure. I envy guys
like Jason D that do this all the time. It would take lots of patience. I will update this as I go.

Wow that looks great. 74 Trans Am's are my favorite. I need some motivation to get mine done. Looking like some good progress. Mine and all the parts in storage now while I build a new house.

Keep up the good work and post lots of pics.

Wow its been a couple years since I have posted any pics. I have worked on this project on and off now for the last couple years. I had spurts of ambition at times and other times did not care to even look at the thing. Well this spring I decided to get it done before years end. At least all the paint work. The rest will be easy since I have all the interior already redone. Keep in mind I have NEVER painted a car before. I think that's what held me up so much. I thought I would find someone to do the paint work for me. Well I decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot. I did all the work in my temporary plastic enclosed paint booth with Wal Mart ventilation. These pics do not do the job justice. I might have found a new profession. The paint is really beautiful!! The whole thing shines like glass. Sure there are a few imperfections but it really exceeded my expectations. I painted it in pieces over the last month. Just a few of the small parts left and I can get it on the road again. Once I am further along i will post more pics........

Cool,
Taking on a restoration project is one thing but learning new trades as you go along is another. Hats off to you and getting that ride done.
Wish many miles of enjoyment!

Did a real nice job on the paint!!!

I too have done more research and reading on how to paint but I ham reluctant to actully paint my car. I think I will also have to bite the bullet and just grab the bull by the horns when the time comes!!!

nice job and keep up the good work!!

Great job, glad it turned out for you so nicely......you can be extra proud of the car now when people tell you how good it looks.
Big incentive to get it all done now.

Its been a long haul but at least I am at the point I can start enjoying the car. I am probably 90% done. I can drive it and finish as I go along. Here is just a quick pic of where it is now.

Not sure if you have seen them, but they are making the repro grilles for the 74's now, picked up a pair at tha Nationals last week, The chrome and paint are nice.

I love a white 74. The only thing that would make it better would be a vinyl top.  :D :D :D :D

Teasing. It's great just as it sets.
Been there, done that, t-shirt is now a shop rag.

Yes they are on my list of wants. I blacked out mine, they were a little pitted. I kind of like the blacked out look though, and get compliments on it.

I just need to finish the engine compartment: Need to install the A/C stuff, windsheild washer stuff, clean up all the buffing compound!!
Thats about it...............
Took it to a car show this evening. It got alot of attention. Seems everyone remembers someone that had one. Sure makes all the hard work (sanding, buffing) worth while.
