The 2.5" tube spacer, is it aluminium or steel ? I saw some photos online, it looks pretty fat ?

Steel. What I used was a nice pretty section of stainless tube. That was all done prior to having diagrams or parts manuals, guessing and looking at pics, later updated with info, part numbers and sizes when confirmed. Not how I'd do things today, or record it. Was probably still film camera too!
Photos of original used bolts and brackets might show, not sure if I have any pics, will look. Also, where that tube sits is right next to the flanged edge of a bracket, anything much larger in diameter won't fit there.

Here's one, apparently original.
You can see it's likely cut from the same tube stock as the smaller spacers are. Mine didn't have either, they used various washers and bolts and a weird idea of the belt offset as a result!
I had the smaller spacer by the time of the pics, and still have several in different lengths. I'll measure one some time. The tube I used was simply that, thin-walled and looked pretty! Did the job, otherwise maybe a chunkier one in nice anodising for some colour other than black, for another day!
