All 3rd and 4th gen seats work, you will need to use your own tracks with some mods but they work and I'm sure you can find a cheap pair.

Procar makes some nice looking aftermarket seats, no idea if they recline. One of the guys here used power seats from a late model Nissan Z that looked really nice. I had a nice set of recarro-esq seats in a VW jetta that were nice, they may fit as well. I would think that a lot of the newer cars are a bit narrower than the 2 nd gen, probably lots of choices. Even a new corolla seat would probably be better.  Check out the pull a part yard and see what they may have.

Those old style flat seats from the 60's and 70's may look "classic", but they are really hard on my back and not that great for cornering.  I need seats with aggressive side bolstering for lower back support.

We lost a number of good threads on seating in the crash.

The problem with putting in seats out of a salvage yard or another car is they don't match the rears or the original interior.  This leads to a need to recover the front and rear to match.  Up here in the frozen north, custom auto upholstery is very expensive.

My 300ZX cloth seats check off all the boxes.  However, they do not match and have a slight smell of body odor that I have not been able to get out.

Both Procar/Scat and TMI offer rear seat covers for 2nd gens that match their fronts.  Most of their seats also tilt.  TMI has a lot of styles and choices of seat materials and colors but they are more expensive.  Here are the links for both:

Procar shows a back seat cover.  Is this a replacement or just a cover?  Price seems pretty low for replacement...

I also think most other seats look out of place, and they do not match the rears.

I would have liked reclining also however.

I ended up just modifying the brackets to have them lean back more ~2-3 in at the top which was perfect for me.

They look like they fit in there well for both style and dimensions.  I like that the Rally's have lots of side bolstering which I need.  Are they comfortable?

Thanks for the suggestion.  I didn't know what it was so I Googled it.  Amazon sells one for not that much money and it got positive reviews.  A lot of the reviewers used it in cars with good results.

I am looking at getting the seats recovered this summer so that may take the odor away.  If not, I would use the ozone treatment.

I was looking at the Procar Rally seats, but see mentions about their brackets raising the seats up too high.  I'm about 5"9 so not sure if that'll be a big issue for me, but just was curious if any of you have had height issues with these seats.

Thanks

You can find in the large pet stores a spray that neutralizes odor. The one I used worked perfectly. It was an enzyme. You spray the area and then cover it with plastic (garbage bag).  Wait the recommended time, remove the plastic and smell is gone.   Worked on dog pee on a hardwood floor with no urethane coating.  A couch cushion also.
Don't buy a scented masking spray. Make sure it has the enzyme

I used some old school Recaro’s in my 79. Used the stock sliders, made a seat base from aluminum stock.

For some reason, I can only post one pic at a time. This is what my base looks like.

The Recaro’s and the Corbeau are both very comfortable, but what’s nice about the Corbeau’s is that you can order them with a optional low seat base, heat and inflatable lumbar not to mention that they recline. The Corbeau seats pictured are the GTS II model.

They do look nice and like they belong. Naturally, they or the rear seat need to be retrimmed to match and complete the transition, black is easier than most to get away with.
Do they completely flip forward for rear seat access? Or have to recline all the way and slide them on the tracks? If my seats weren't already retrimmed I'd have looked into something similar, or at worst trying to add bolstered side cushioning and reshape the covers, for the little extra that would provide.

Every so often I'd search the word Recaro on craigslist and came across a set that someone bought new in the early 80s but never got around to installing. This guy bought them specifically for his later 2nd gen. He passed away at some point and his son listed them for sale. That's how I came across them. They were 2 hours away, but my wife just happened to be going to his town the next day for a family event. I set the meet up at a public place and all went well.
The later sliders did not work for my floor. It was obvious the seats were never bolted in. Just dusty. I bought Planted Technology brackets and bolted them in. They are great seats.

At some point whenever the interior gets done I will recover them.

The surgeon general never said nuthin' 'bout smokin' the competition!

Remember to take in consideration the seat adapters and the the sliders. They will add substantially to the overall height.

How do you guys deal with the seatbelt?

Looks like it would end up at neck level without the seat belt loop.

Here are the seats I have decided on:

http://www.cerullo.com/xrseat

The bonus is they will custom do you supplid fabric for a perfect match for about $1000 each.  Honestly by the time I bought all the items to restore my stock seats, it's not much difference.  Now just to convince the wife.....
