Who said Hooker Show Bar???
I spent years, literal years, trying to get hold of an original Hooker Show Bar to put back in my Fire Am. I got scammed out of one of them by this guy Cole who (was) a good friend, gotten so close to buying two others, made a deal on one but then the owner decided not to sell, and got offered some rough ones for around $1000 (and this was a few years ago too.)
I finally, finally got a hold of mine earlier this year after constantly being on top of this T/A parts guy, it took me over a year of messaging for him to get it out of his shed, box it up, ship it to my freight forwarder, and finally down to me in Australia. $250 USD, but poor thing was missing a leg. But man, when I finally had that pallet dropped off on my driveway, I could not open the box fast enough. Rusty, a bit pitted, but bruh, I was finally happy to just get my hands on one.
After a lot of scrubbing with #0000 steel wool, WD-40, some aluminium foil, and a little bit of Autosol metal polish:
Although it would've been nice to have both original legs (they do have part numbers on them) or a complete bar, I guess it could be considered a good thing as I always wanted to change the way they mount to the body of the car, as I always thought were they mounted and drilled into the wheel wells was a bit goofy and not well designed. Plus, Matt Adams reached out and advised he'd be happy to make some new legs that are closer to the VSE roll bar specifications. I'd be concerned to see if the chrome would match however, as it would be significantly costly to have the whole bar re-chromed here. I'd rather save a rough one than use a good one that could be reserved for another car that really needs it.
