70 Trans Am Shaker scoop color code
« on: March 19, 2023, 06:08:04 PM »
My wife and I picked up a 92 TA convertible, 5.0 5 speed.  We are doing a set of blue stripes merging elements from 69 and 70 to accent the car.  We are having a terrible time finding the exact color of the shaker scoop for a white car.

I've attached a pic of the mock up.

Depends on the colour of the custom decals, and being over a white base.

We think the original 70 color was Lucerne blue after some more research, but still haven't been able to definitively confirm that.

We drove the new car lots and as of now, the two top colors are GM Glacier Mist Blue and Chrysler Frostbite blue.  We have to go back and look at them in the daylight.

We plan to use a 70-72 TA nose bird.  If the stripes continued down onto the nose of the 92, the stripes would be 14.5 inches wide and the 70-72 bird is 14.5 inches wide so it will be the perfect starting point.  The stripes will emanate from the bird and be doubles instead of the single of the 70-72.

The black on the left was playing with options of how to incorporate the louvers into the stripes and make the transition from the bird to the stripes.

Rocky Rotella notes in his superb book that the 1970 blue is most likely 1967 Tyrol Blue.

1971's and 72's used Lucy Blue

Thank you very much.  That gives us a firm basis to start from.  We want to stay true to the Pontiac design with a slightly modern take on it.
