1977 Special Edition Price in 1989

I was looking through some old Canadian Auto Traders this morning and came across this beauty.
Thi9s add is from 1989.
I guess they were still asking some good money for this SE in 1989 but 12.800 Canadian is still a good deal.
That car would be worth over 100K US easy today i assume?

PS.  The  posting says WS6 i thought that option was only available in 1978?

That's a lot more than it cost new.  FWIW.

Definitely no need to assume on WS6.  it was not available in 1977.  It's possible the car had the sway bars replaced and that it did have some non-original WS6 "stuff" on it.  that would not have been uncommon.

I would assume they meant it was a w72. May not have been as much info out then as there is now? I think it seems like a strong price as well, it must have been an extremely nice car. I bought a '85 trans am around 90-92 and paid around 3500. It was a decent car. At that time in my life I would rather have had a 3rd gen over most 2nds. How things have changed.

For the sake of more meaningless chat the ad says W6, so already a typo, for an option not available in '77 but may have been added to some extent, as mentioned. W72 for 1977 wasn't a terribly exciting affair, compared to the beefier block and slight extra power of a year later. Not sure what the HO reference is, could be someone like H-O Specialties, or just the owner assuming 'Bandit Editions' featured HO engines.

You're missing the big value-adders though, the rare factory tinted headlight (and grille) covers, to match the shades of the driver! They haven't aged as well as other retro things like big tyres and rear louvres.

And it wasn't always indoors...!
