Autotec Pistons
« on: August 30, 2022, 09:44:54 AM »
Is anyone here using Autotec/Racetec pistons? If so, where did you get them from, and how much did they cost you (if it's okay for me to ask, if not, mods please let me know and I will edit this comment)?

For that matter, are there any autotec/racetec dealers on this forum? I was trying to hit up Shanon's engineering as his place is the one supposedly everybody on maxperformanceinc (formerly performance years) go to for forged pistons, but he's been completely unresponsive to phone calls, voice mails, and emails for me.

Have you talked with Butler Performance? They carry Ross, DSS and ICON/KB forged pistons.

Yeah, they wanted over $1k and it would be a 15 week wait.

I know pistons across the board are taking longer to get due to supply issues.

What piston specs are you looking for?

Yup I'm aware they're taking much longer to get. There's also a huge backlog on aluminum heads right now too. I really just want 0.060 oversize with metric rings and 7 or 8cc valve reliefs

4.181 or 4.211? What stroke? I know the 1.0, 1.0, and 3.0 rings are starting to hit pontiacs. I have a buddy that works there and i can ask him if there's ones without the metric rings in stock that maybe a little less expensive and quicker turnaround if you would like.

I have a set of AutoTech's in my current motor.  I ran over everything with a mic and have everything documented somewhere.  I recall them to be extremely consistent both dimensionally and in weight.  I got them from Paul K at Knippen's muscle motors:  https://www.facebook.com/PaulKnippensMuscleMotors
