'Keep your GM car' decals
« on: September 24, 2023, 07:43:16 PM »
I need to finalise printing some custom 'Keep your GM car/vehicle all GM' decals for air cleaner. But I also wanted to know if you had an application, engine, year option whatever, that wasn't already reproduced already. That also includes where the wording was changed from 77 to 78, but the reproduction still caters for 'all' without saying so.

Random question, has anyone found that their specific 'Keep your GM car' air cleaner decal is not reproduced? Or is not correct in the details? I'm not talking about the majority of sellers who simply have one listed and suits all models, because they haven't checked the application. I'm looking into getting a few done for my car, and seeing what others may be possible with limited artwork changes, mainly part numbers, codes and perhaps the Car/Vehicle wording depending on year. Just ideas, but if you are aware of one that isn't made, yell out.

I’ve been a little tempted to paint my aluminum drop base black and put the decal on it .... as kind of a joke because not much in my engine bay is original or stock. I don’t really know if the correct decal is made for my 73 bird as I haven’t looked. But I think I will check now.

I dont know the number off hand, but I have the 79 service which says which air cleaner to use a/c delco # such n such. I looked at what Ames had and what they said was for '79 had a different part number. I called and asked if that was a misprint and if they had the correct decal, I was told what they have is correct? I did not get it, but if I cannot find the correct one I may end up using it anyway.

Same deal, they have a sheet with part no.s listed for 79 trans am. It has all of the decals for springs, heads, etc, etc. Looking at the codes on the build sheet I dont think one part no. on the sticker sheet coincides with the build sheet. Again, I may end up using some of them anyway.

To get one off stickers made is stupid expensive. I had a correct sticker made for my wiper motor and it was something like $20 when all was said and done. I have a buddy that had the right stickers for his leaf springs, again much more than I wanted to spend.

When I get a chance I will look at what part no. I need for the air cleaner.

Yes, my motor is a Pontiac 400, 1979 4 speed.
For some reason I thought the no. was A279C.  I would have to check but thinking back that number may have come out of my 1977 service manual??

The 1980-1981 TA with the 301NA motor has the AC756C air filter part number on the upper left corner of the decal. Nobody makes it.

I will try to find the part number or the 2-letter code. I have a picture of the actual decal somewhere, but I have to locate it. What are you shipping to USA that people here scoff at the shipping cost? I know it costs $19 to ship a 4-ounce package to AU from California. I am sure it is more from New York.

It's sad that these aftermarket companies don't want to go by what the parts books show is correct.

When I was looking to get mine replaced.....8997017 PJ A542C......I just happened to find it on Firebird Central but they list it for a 1979.  Parts book shows it for 78-79 Trans Am w/W72.

According to the GM listing the 1981 301 NA regular model (non-TA or shaker) used the A756C filter #25040047. Strangely, it also lists the 80-81 305 in TA as the same part below the shaker, will have to scroll through some used original pics.

There's already a 1980 non-TA/shaker NA 301 W72 decal reproduced, as well as regular NA 301 with shaker.

Not sure if this helps at all, my 1980 TA with a NA 301 shows A348C, 8997679.

Excellent, thanks. Yes, that one isn't even in the GM listing. Is yours a W72 301  or regular? It may be just missing rather than an error. I have my own compilation anyway.

Yes, 25040047 is the GM part number for the Delco filter A756C. I need either part number on the Keep your GM decal, or the 2-digit code to identify what you need. Or to know what your car specs are for 80-81 TA with NA 301 and shaker. There's a few available, you think yours isn't.

I also don't have A756C as a TA listing, but used with 265/301/305 with regular lid and likely 2 barrel carb, a few applications like that. Perhaps your base isn't the original one and has been swapped. I can only guess without any info.

Looks like I'm just printing up my own then. Every forum and fbook post has the same disinterest.
