Radiator retension with electric fans
« on: July 08, 2024, 06:22:57 AM »
OK I'll try and explain this.  I have an electric fan for the TA which works well.  The "mechanic" who hooked it up did a horrid job wiring it so I removed it till I can get it done correctly.  I want to remove the stock shroud as my fan has a much smaller one.  My question it, what have you guys done to retain the radiator in place since the stock shroud is removed?

I may have had a smaller fan, but it sat up against the radiator inside the OEM shroud.  That was a long time ago and it has since been removed.  Have any pictures to share of your setup?

It looks like that would be very efficient at idle.  I would be worried about the restriction of airflow at speed.  The OEM shroud funnels the air past the
fan blades across the entire radiator.  Being flat, I would think it would act more like an air brake. ie. a lot of wind restriction.  If you're not racing and looking for
every last bit of HP like I did way back, you may want to rethink this option. Just a thought :o)

🙄 or maybe I think the shroud is ugly and want it to go away. This set up actually works very well but thanks for your opinion
