It was a great Pontiac weekend,

Perfect weather, nice variety of cars and a good turnout. Had a good band playing later 60's music up until 9 PM.

Lots of GTO's, Firebirds and Fiero's. I like seeing some of the less common Pontiacs and have posted a few pictures.

The early years, a 1926 Oakland. I could not find the owner, but believe this car driven to the show from Iowa.

Unfortunately I forgot to write down the information on this one.

1956 Star Chief, the owner in his 80's is moving into a retirement home and is selling.

This 1958 Bonneville has been in the same family since purchased new. Father and son were there, great story and beautiful car. It's now been handed down to his son. Story is after the last picture.

Looks like a Rocket engine in the chrome trim.

This is a1962 Tempest or Lemans. At first look the engine looks like a 326 or 389. Closer inspection you see it's a four cylinder, 1/2 a V8. This had a transaxle in the rear connected by a flexible cable in a tube. In my early days as a mechanic I remember changing a few timing gear and chain sets on these.

You can change the starter with out jacking the car up.

Sorry, I neglected to get the details on this one, but too nice looking not to post a picture.

1968 tempest wagon. Engine is Pontiac OHC six, the low performance version. John Delorean was pushing this engine but it just never caught on.

Midwest Drag Racing legend Arnie the Farmer Beswick was there. I can remember watching him race in the late 60's. He is 94 years old now. Had his 1970 GTO Judge for sale, an over the top street car. His book is an enjoyable read.

Saturday a couple of interesting speakers. First was Rocky Rotella well know Pontiac historian and writer/author of "The Definitive Firebird & Trans Am Guide" and several books on Pontiac engine building.  Rocky gave an interesting history on the Pontiac black with gold accent paint scheme going all the back to the 60's. Found out Pontiac actually painted a 1973 TA black with gold, but sat on the decision of selling to the public for years.

Next was John Kraman, well known announcer from Mecum Auto Auction. John gave a very informative and detailed lecture on how the Mecum auction process works. Also found out he is into Pontiacs in a big way.

A Hurst shifter promotional car, lots of options for the day.

I was trying to avoid posting Firebirds and GTO's, posting more unusual cars. In the early days of Gen II Firebirds there were a lot more Formula's than Trans Am's built. In 1974 Pontiac built 14,519 Formula's to 10,255 TA's. It changed in 1975 27,274 TA's to 13,670 Formula's. By 1979 117,109 TA's to 24,850 Formula's. Today you don't see many Formula's. While I have owned a few TA's, I kind of like the more streamlined appearance of the Formula. This 1974 model has a 455, most had the 400.

Awesome pics and thanks for taking the time writing them up.  Looks like a great time!  I watch the Mecum Auctions all of the time and you can tell that John Kraman is an authentic fan of Pontiacs - especially GTOs and Trans Ams.
