Qjet secondaries

So I have felt like the old girl had little get up and go. I also noticed I wasn’t hitting passing gear. That was an easy find as somehow the linkage became disconnected, easy fix. However I don’t know how to check that the secondaries are coming open. When I floor it, not running, the secondaries don’t move. Should they?

No, has to be warm/choke off and under load to work( vacuum operated top flap).
1973 T/A 455, 4 speed.

Ok thanks. I found the vac line and some of the caps on ports were very dry rotten and leaking. I replaced them and she seems to be back to normal. Chirping the tires on the shift to second

As Nas t eh mentions, the secondaries are mechanical will open once the choke is off. The air valve that you see at the top of the secondaries is vacuum operated. There is a spring tension adjustment that affects how quickly the valve opens. Too little tension and your car will bog, too munch tension and they will be slow opening or not open at all. With the engine running and warmed up, a quick pull of the throttle wide open you will see these butterflies open and hear the quadrajet honk.
