Fender bolts with star lock washer
« on: March 07, 2023, 04:13:54 AM »
I found an unlabelled bag of used 5/16" fender bolts, except they have the self-contained toothed star locking washers. I know some vehicles like Ford used these, can anyone recall these being used on Firebirds? They are in the GM bolts and fasteners manual, I have got around to cross-referencing them all. I seem to recall them on the shifter assembly to floor, of course that had all been 'restored prior.

The only place where I saw the star washers are power window motors, but those are 1/4" bolts. And maybe transmission dust cover bolts, but also smaller. Flange head bolt plus star washer looks strange.

I'm getting to where I can't remember stuff like this.  If there are any, it's not very many.  I am thinking where electrical ground was strongly desired, there might be some in locations like that. But I really don't remember.

Every bolt on a Trans Am, I've taken them out.

Actually I am pretty impressed with your vast range of knowledge. My memory isn’t as good as it used to be, but I would be happy just knowing what you have forgotten.

Thanks, I think I've just bagged them up as randoms that don't belong, but could be useful if needed hence no label. Thanks Sreta, yes all good uses of them in the smaller scale.
