Ok guys. I just scored a 455 block thats .060 over. I have the time and $$$ to build a good street engine. I have a turbo 350 with an 2.56 posi. I would like over 580 torque or so. I have on hand a performer manifold, Ram Air III exhaust manifold, A 50,000 volt HEI, Sean Murphy Q-jet, new front cover and water pump, new performance harmonic balancer. Assorted odds and ends that I can find. I also have a Crower 60918 Hyd flat tappet camshaft and PRC stainless roller rockers. Now the question? 474 or 495? Flat tappet or hyd roller? I see that Butler had stroker kits and so does Scat and Eagle. Im open to suggestions and opinions to camshaft recommendations and so on. I have built losts of SBC and BBC engines but this will be my first ground up build. Block is going to the shop this week so I can install studs on the mains and get new cam bearings and other work done. I will get it line honed and a true flat deck. I want to use either Edelbrock or Kaufman heads and will have them set up for either camshaft. I still need to work out the exhaust as far as mufflers. I love the old Cyclone purple hornies but done know if i want to be that obnoxious but it hasnt stopped me before. Thanks for your time guys and Happy New Years. I also bought Rocky Rotellas book and will use it as much as I can.
