This Saturday was a huge milestone for me. This was the 1st car show for the T/A! It has taken a long time for me to get the car to where it is now...
*I bought my T/A in July of 1992 from the original owner
*In 1994 the original but tired 400 and TH350 was swapped out with another 400 and TH400.The front end was rebuilt when the motor
was out. I intended to rebuild and hop up the original motor when I could afford to do so.
*In 2001, the T/A was hit on the passenger quarter panel. The other person's insurance only covered the damage (naturally) and would
leave the car looking uneven, as the paint had faded. I decided to have the entire body worked on and painted. So much for saving
for the engine and tranny.
I depleted my savings, took out a loan and even borrowed money from my mother.
*By 2007 I repaid both loans and saved enough money to have the original engine hopped up and had the TH400 rebuilt.
*In the summer of 2008, the rebuilt engine/tranny was swapped back in.
*I only enjoyed driving the car for a little over a year. A leaky heater core caused me to park the car and not be driven for the next 8
years. It also brought me to TAC. That one repair snowballed into many projects and several thousands of dollars. The upholstery
was pulled and redone but not installed, carpet replaced, body mount bushings were replaced, headers and a complete 3" dual
exhaust system installed, rear end suspension replaced, sub-frame connecters added, replaced all A/C components, engine bay
harness replaced, Snowflake wheels redone with 4 new tires. There are many, many more items purchased and projects completed.
Very little has been done to the car in the last 5 years, so in part, that is why I decided to commit to taking my T/A to a major car show this year. I entered the 34th annual Run to the Inn of the Mountain Gods Car Show in Ruidoso, NM. I've never seen so many high end vehicles in one place in my life!! I met lots of wonderful people, received valuable tips and advice and made connections with enthusiasts near me. I only slept 4 hrs per night for the last week trying to get the car ready. I really had to force myself to get up and off the couch to work on the T/A. It was all worth the sore hands, bruised body, cut up fingers and knuckles and feeling like a zombie at work. Anyway fellas, sorry for the long preamble. All of that just to watch some car porn...
