Inside Door Stickers - Remake?
« on: July 15, 2022, 07:52:34 AM »
Is there a company that will remake Pontiac door stickers?
The Trans Am i am restoring was repainted a few times and the door sticker was in bad shape.
I did not want to tape and paint over it again so i am wondering if it can be re made?
This is not a SE trans am or anything special so i am just trying to make everything look good an fresh.
Let me know
TY

somebody made a template that you could download and fill in your details

A Camaro looks like it could kick your ass.
A Trans Am looks like it's coming over to do it

There's only bits and pieces of that thread remaining, and not the important parts by the look. It also printed it all onto a solid label with a shadow, as do some that advertise them. Others have the correct clear window with door paint showing through.

Look good. Out of interest, were those one a clear window or shaded light grey? White and silver cars could get away with it more than colours.

The ECS stickers look nice. I have bought some other stuff from them and they are excellent as far as originality and reproduction. I bought the outer face with clear blanks from Ames, it was fairly expensive for what it was. I filled in the blanks with the download that was posted on here by Pozar a few years ago. Looked perfect compared to original, but if one call to ECS does it, that much the better.

A word of warning, DO NOT tape over these originals if you are painting. I did so and the print lifted off!!
Finished!

Where do they get all the weights etc from? Are they the same across all models or do they factor in all the factory options? For example, I'm remaking them for a 78 Formula and a 78 Trans Am. The Formula is a non-A/C poverty option car, and the T/A is a heavy option A/C car. Are the weights the same? How do they know what weights to put on the decals?

Mine were made several years ago, so my memory might be suspect. But I recall them telling me that since these are federal labels, a photo of the label from a similar car would not be sufficient. I provided them with a copy of my build sheet, dealer order form, and window sticker.

And if I have no buildsheet? Hopefully PHS will be ok. How much did they charge?

I dug mine out, thought had contact details but don't. Were done by a guy on ebay probably 10 years ago. Clear film over white backing with windows. I think many done copy the codes and specs off the 1 or 2 done on groups previously. Have seen a few original vs new comparison pics over the years where they didn't even supply the details they had, probably just the link to some other car and insert VIN. Not that the details matter, but if you have them...

I see Firebird Central sell blank transfers with windows cut out and separate clear overlay, another way to do it. But still have to type your details in and risk messing it up. But the idea works if doing a custom transfer too.

Also, don't drop them in the dirt while applying. I did that years ago, clear transfer doesn't look great with pebbles under it. No really, it doesn't.
