The Batman
« on: March 15, 2022, 12:50:06 PM »
My older daughters took me to see the new Batman movie and WOW, what a fantastic piece of cinematic entertainment.  I could not even tell I was sitting there for 3 hours it was so good.  The only critique I had for it was the batmobile.   While it was killer, did it have to be another dodge charger wanna be.  Should have been a TA.  LOL

A+++++++++ I highly recommend this movie!!!!

Wow, my daughter went to see it and said it was good. I'm a bit tired of the Batman reboots and they've been making him so very dark when he's suppose to be a hero. I'll have to take a gander at it.

Rich, I will tell you that sitting here right now I'd say its one of the only movies I've seen that made me forget I was watching a movie.  I love movies and this was just a different experience altogether.  It makes all of the other batman's before it seem like fan made.  Before this, my fav was the Christian Bales.  That isn't even close in my opinion.  I can't wait for the next one.

Robert Pattison did a fantastic job too!

HA, thats funny Jack. You sound like me. I think the last 2 movies I saw in a theatre were Psycho and the original Dracula. Both through the classic series with TCM. Im like Rich, I have never been a fan of the 'new' batman movies. I grew up watching Adam West's version and although its beyond corny that to me is Batman. I also have the original serial from around 1942? on dvd as well as the first reboot from around 1949. They are both very entertaining but def not to be taken serious.

With the help of my 10 yo grandson we now have amazon and the such on our 'smart' tv. I will wait until it becomes available there I suppose before I watch. I admit I watch way too much tv but for movies most stuff made after about 1965 I have little interest in.

RK, I'm with you. No cable tv where I live and I bailed direct tv two years ago. About all I watch is ME TV. All the old stuff, Saturday nite is sci-fi Saturday nite. What a hoot!  Sorry didn't mean to take away from original post.

DC has become quite dark in most everything that doesn't explicitly target young children as the audience, like there's a reason why Deadpool cracks the joke “So dark. Are you sure you're not from the DC universe?”

Personally I prefer Marvel's more lighthearted feelgood atmosphere present in most of their movies and shows.

I don't remember many things costing a nickel but do remember McDonald's meal costing under $2.

Boy you guys are old  :-D
I was born in 1964, we had a movie theatre when I was in hs that had dollar movies. The same movies that came out in the 'real' theatres but the mall that it was located in was a bit run down and the theatre literally leaked like crazy during the rain. But for a hs kid $1 was a good deal.

Yes... cheap sugar and salt. Good times. The bars and bags were A LOT bigger too. Most of the time where I lived, it was 25 cents for two movies.

Years later I saw the original movie again and saw how really bad it was.  Back then it was so cool. I asked my mother how she could sit through the entire movie... she said " a mother's love for her children." She shook her head and laughed. :-D

Yes I'm old. Can't believe I'm old enough to say that. I've owned my T/A 41 years.  Nine years old in 1966 when the movie came out.

This thread got my attention.  I have been laid up all week, so I have done what I rarely do.  Watched a bunch of tv!  I figured out how to get on Hulu and Netflix  (My wife subscribes to them).  On Hulu, I found 4 Batman movies and watched them all over the past 4 days.  One movie a day is enough!    I liked the first two best.  Michael Keaton was Batman.  3rd one was Val Kilmer and I didn't think he did as good a job as Keaton.  The 4th and last free movie had George Clooney and I really wasn't impressed at all with him and Schwartzenegger, nor Batgirl's intro, although I liked Poison Ivy   The next two films are on some pay-to-watch channel so I'm done for a while.  Hope to get up and get around soon anyway.  I hate doing nothing, and I have a million things that I need to be working on.

Hopefully you'll feel better soon Mike. I enjoy watching movies but my problem is that I usually end up sleeping on the couch half way through the movie. Maybe I'm getting old

Get back on your feet Mike, too much to do for you to be sitting around watching tv.

Im with you Jack, most of the time I put a movie on there is a blank memory lapse somewhere in the middle once I reach the end.

Luke, Dinosaurs made pretty good pets for the most part, we just had to make sure their food was served on time

Feel better soon Mike!

I will say that you hit the nail on the head with your summaries.  I think the villian makes the batman and I thought all of the villians in the pre-bats were too unbelievable.  I liked Batman Begins, but didn't care for the scarecrow.  The joker and bane were good performances.

I watched it today because its finally streaming on HBO Max.  I liked it.  I understand some of the gripes though.  Mainly no background story as to how he became Batman.  I heard that is coming in future movies.  I was more bothered that the Batmobile had a third brake light.
