Bummer Impact Bar Color?

Restoring my 1980 Francesco Red Trans Am
I have a quesiton about the color of the metal bumpers.
What color are they suppose to be?  Black or the color of the car?

The front is painted in black. I am not sure about the rear.

The few I have dealt with were rusted. I would not  be surprised if they were never painted to begin with. I painted  both front and rear black on my car. No idea if that is factory spec.
