Hemmings Hit A Homerun
« on: October 21, 2021, 07:19:33 AM »
Well, I guess as I have not read the current issues yet. BUT for what must be the first time both Hemmings Classic and Hemmings muscle cars have Firebirds on the cover. Just got them out of the mail box, looking forward to reading through.

You are not alone, it must have been at least 15 years since I received any kind of printed magazine.

I read the Hemmings Muscle Car mag all the time. A guy I work with gets subscriptions as a present, (years ago), and he gives them to me, when he's done reading them. They have a great format, and is a quality magazine, with big pages, and mostly 4 color. I read through them on break in work. He also gets the classified mag (book?) too, and is interesting trying to stay up on asking prices for these cars.

I cant get into digital for reading a magazine. I enjoy Hemmings but have become a bit concerned over the last year. I know selling magazines is a tough business to be in. They cut one of their publications out and combined with another. I get Hemmings Muscle and Hemmings Classic. I used to get the 'big book' but let that go as it seemed all of the articles in there were also in the two magazines. There does seem to be a lot of overlap. I always re-up at Carlisle and they werent there this year. Then a couple of weeks ago at Hershey they were there, but when I inquired about updating my subscription they refused. They said they were no longer taking subscriptions at shows and their show schedule had been cut way back. What does that tell you?

I do hit their online site just about every night. It pretty much shows the same as the book but is supposedly a month behind. They also have an active online auction. I wont be surprised if in the not too distant future this will be all that is left of them.
