A/C drier bracket
« on: June 29, 2021, 08:08:52 PM »
Can anyone, preferably with a 77 or 78 (unless they’re they same for other years) post a picture of their A/C drier and bracket? I’m getting close to purchasing an A/C kit to replace all of my missing components from the evaporator forward but it doesn’t include that bracket and my original is long gone. Just trying to see how it attaches so I can plan accordingly and potentially find one if necessary.

While I’m on the subject, is anyone that has installed the Original Air setup willing to post a few pics of the passenger side of the engine area with everything installed? Trying to see how much room will be left with the smaller compressor. Any tips, pros or cons are welcome too.

Thanks!

This is Classic Auto Air on my 79 with 403, that comes with everything from evaporator out. I even got the new evap core too. I think it's the same as the Original Air setup. The accumulator is shorter than the original one, so the original mounting bracket didn't fit. But, the accumulator is sturdy enough as it is when installed, so I didn't install the bracket on it. Here's a pic:

Perfect! Thank you! I think you’ve mentioned before but your happy with that kit right? I ordered a stage 2 kit 3 weeks ago. Just waiting for it to ship.

Overall, I am happy with it. The quality and fit is good. It doesn't get as cold as I'd like. But I did the charging myself. It might get colder if I take it to a professional to charge it. Living in Atlanta, having t-tops, and all clear glass doesn't help. But, as it is, on a regular day, it's cool and comfortable. On a hot day, at least it keeps me from sweating.

Well after 7 weeks of waiting I finally got a shipping notification (and a credit card charge) for my Original Air kit. Should be here Thursday! Although I’m not sure I’ll get to start installing it until next week. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly especially with all of the heat we’ve had lately. Naturally, next week it’s supposed to only get into the low to mid 80s, ha!
