Took the '77 for a road trip last week
« on: October 15, 2024, 07:53:30 AM »
We went for a ride down to the Smokies, and into Cherokee, NC.  Just over 800 miles logged this trip.  No issues.  The car ran great down the interstate and through the mountain roads.  We had a nice week.  Temps starting the day in the upper 40's, and getting up to around 70°.  I did the obligatory car photo at the same location that I have done every T/A that I took down there.  On the way there, the odometer hit a new milestone.
We got out of the car by an old fence.  I told my wife that something moved in the tall grass.  Then this gal came up within 50 or so feet.  Sje was busy eating persimmons and never even paid us any attention.
The ColdCase radiator did great.  Stayed on 180* (and even less up in the mountains) the entire trip.  Oil pressure held at 60 lbs at 70/75 mph.  The PTFB suspension and Konis were great.  Way better than the last trip in the mountains with the factory springs!  It was just a nice, relaxing trip for us.

Mike,
Sounds like you had a perfect trip on beautiful roads. Exactly what these cars were made for. Great pictures too. You inspire me to take my car on some longer journeys.

I agree. Looks like a fun time Mike. Im not sure I would want to be that close to a Grizzly! Ok, may not be a Grizzly but to me they all are, just like all spiders are Tirantulas and all snakes are Rattlers!!
I drove my 77 up to Hershey last week for the AACA show About 100 miles round trip. The whole way I kept thinking that it sure would be nice to take a road trip. I have developed a comfort level and would not mind traveling a bit. Maybe next year :???:
