Efi /shaker
« on: April 08, 2021, 07:06:42 PM »
Hi Transamcountry.
I am contemplating a holley sniper set up on my Wife's
Olds powered bird. My main concern is the size of the throttle body vs the Qjet & shaker clearance.
Any thoughts? Using a 3711 edelbrock stock height manifold.
Thanks
Jim

Quadrajet and Holley have the same exact height.  The Sniper is based off those throttle bodies so you won’t be off there.

The Edelbrock Performer intake is very close to stock so you’ll be close there too.

I have a 400, but when I installed a Sniper QJ and a performer last summer, I figured the scoop dropped about 3/8 inch.  I had to install an extra carb gasket and a spacer to make this up.

The problem with the Pontiac Performer by Edelbrock is it actually tilts the carb back slightly.  It’s actually about the same height but it tilts the carburetor back slightly compared to the stock pad angle.  You should’ve the front move up a very small amount as well.
