Mechanical / Re: Dual or single throttle return springs?

Just because it came with one (if it did) doesn’t mean that’s the best option, I have one on mine but after reading this, I am adding a second, but then again I could careless about originality in my car.

For conversations sake, if nothing else, why do you say your quadrajet is shot and what is your apprehension in rebuilding it yourself?
Time and Patience, two things I lack. I am not good at things like that. While I feel I am a fairly good mechanic, small detail oriented work is just not my skill set.  The carb might just need rebuilt, thinking it over last night it sat a long time with ethanol fuel in it so maybe that’s part of the issues with it. It idles and runs fine till I go into heavy acceleration then it just stumbles all over itself.

I never said the union hasn't made contributions to better work life, and I am not going to argue about it online.  I can only share my experiences.

I am glad to hear that.  There are a few people in my orbit who won't admit this.  But given where they get their "info" this is not surprising at all.

They were designed to fit, along with most reasonable suspension and tyre combos. 17x8? Is that even a thing?

I have a friend that put EFI on his '69 firebird. It has left him stranded twice.

Hey Kerry. Would you mind telling me how it left him stranded? I just recently started having some problems that I think might be fuel related and not so much EFI related...it was professionally installed maybe 5 or 6 years ago and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I had to put some non top tier gas in it since I was in the middle of nowhere and no other gas stations around. Forgive me for hijacking the thread...

I've been running 255-50-17 tires on my 17x9" Year One snowflake rims, front and rear.
This tire size is same diameter as stock 27" tall. no rubbing issues on stock rebuilt suspension.
Sorry nobody had any better answers for ya.

I have 2 on mine unsure if original or not, one on either side pulling. If for what ever reason one fails I still have a throttle return is my thought process. Don't have to be tight just enough to pull.

Yes, it acts as a redundant safety as well as provide a better throttle/progressive response feel.

I would not install an EFI if you gave it to me FREE. I dislike such subtractions from originality.
