Title: Pontiac Engineer Mac McKellar
Post by: 5th T/A on September 05, 2021, 03:12:31 PM
Here is more from Rocky Rotella on Pontiac history.

While attending the Indian Uprising show last month I was fortunate to sit in on discussion group hosted by Rocky Rotella, Don Kefee, Scott Tiemann and Jeff Denison. They talked about a great engineer at Pontiac that I had never heard of. His name is Mac McKellar, he was chief motor engineer for Pontiac from 1960 – 1982. Although Mac is no longer with us, he was passionate about his job and high performance. He was one of the dedicated engineers that made Pontiac what it was. If you are into history then take a look at these links.

Thanks for posting.  Uprising was a great turnout.  I'm glad I got to make it for a little bit.  I wanted to attend the whole weekend myself but me and my wife were busy with our child.  I didn't speak to him but it was pretty cool to see Arnie Beswick there as well.  That show definitely brings the best Pontiac's together.  SLP cars, Super Duty, Special Edition, race cars, keynote speakers, etc.  This is one of things where, if you don't go to these shows now, you will never be able to meet some of these people again.

I'm late to this but wanted to say I was there and though I didn't spend a ton of time at the show (visiting my son who lives nearby) it was a large and prestigious show.

The best part for my wife and I was Saturday morning when we were strolling around looking at cars. 3 f-bodies came rolling in to park. I was a bit surprised when I realized the red, 73SD was being driving by Jim Rotella, Rocky's dad and the blue 74 Formula was piloted by Rocky. They were both grinning. Seems a local collector had offered them the use of a couple of her cars to join in a morning cruise they did that day. I only wish I could have joined them.

The show was a really good one. I've never owned a big time show winning car but if you have one to be judged on that level this show would be a good benchmark.
